I found that there was no real place to put this, so I made a thread. The requirements are pretty wide open here. Post whatever you like, but it has to be about the Marines Corps in some way, shape, or form. If it involves Marines and bacon, it should probably be cross-posted in the bacon thread as well.

How cool is this photo (below)?

Here is something you don't see every day. Marine Corps pilots flexing their muscles with a slingload and refueling at the same time.
The max speed of the CH-53K King Stallion helicopter with a slingload is just over 100MPH and the stall speed of the KC-130T Hercules is about 115MPH. A lot has to go right for this photo to be taken. Both aircraft are being pushed to their limits, here.

That's a big lift. Imagine the look on the face after some S-4 got this tasker dropped on their desk.

DD during Commissioning Week of firstie year: "Dad, you know how Marines are different? We're the ones who get more excited about watching the Silent Drill Team than the Blue Angels."

Indeed. The BA brought out the crowds on a sunny afternoon, spread across the Yard and Naptown vicinity. The SDT attracted a small gathering in the rain, huddled alongside Worden Field. The few, the proud....

We watched the silent drill team. In the rain. It was beautiful. Bonus was we were invited under the blue canopy bc of the rain, so front row, center seats.

It was amazing.

God bless those recruits! What they endure is amazing. I get teary-eyed watching videos of them receiving their EG&A at the end of boot camp.

If you're a regular on SAF, you may know the USNA version of this "phone call." 😉🤭🤣

1. This is Midshipman _____. I have arrived safely at plebe summer.

2. Please send food, supplements, energy bars, compression shorts, sports bras, running shoes and my glasses to the Wilson Road address.

3. I will call you in a couple weeks, during one of the three designated "phone home" days. Make sure the dog is standing by.

4. Meanwhile, you can catch all the action by stalking the Alumni Association's photo website. They post thousands of images each day, so strap in.

5. If you still want to know more, you can sneak onto the Yard at 5am to catch a glimpse of PT. Or you can camp out on the parents' Facebook page and commiserate with the others.

6. Thank you for your support. See you on Plebe Parents Weekend, when we'll stroll through DTA licking ice cream cones and sipping boba tea.
