Today coming home from school, I was pulled over for going 15 over. Now, I know that immediately that sounds bad. However, the speed limit drops ten miles per hour, and I had just passed the sign. The distance between myself and the police officer was about 200 yards, and I just hadn't hit the brakes yet.
I was polite to the officer, and had my license and insurance out when he came to the window. He saw my USAF Bennie and canteen on the floor, which sparked up a discussion on the USAFA that lasted for the duration of the writing. Really nice guy, but still wrote me the citation, but did "Wish me luck" as he walked away. I think he meant it.
So, I called the Academy and have sent an E-mail to the Academy saying what happened and all of the details at the request of my counselor.
Will this hinder my chances of receiving an appointment? I'm not saying I wasn't in the wrong. I know I was. Just the circumstances. Ironically, I was thinking about the USAFA, and forgot to brake.
I've received one nomination from my senator and am extremely confident about a second one. My GPA is 3.96 and have good SATs. Is this one thing going to "shoot me down?"
Thanks.
