sponsor family question

We have a good friend whose sister and her family live in the Colorado Springs area. They are currently visiting in Calif and we met them this weekend with our DS. The family is very interested in becoming a sponsor family for our son. I followed a couple links I found on here a week ago and printed some info for them. Does any one have any experience or other info on what we need to do to set it up for this family to be a sponsor family for our son. Thanks for any help.

There should be a Cadet Information Form in your Instructions to Appointee packet. You can request a specific Sponsor Family there. Send that in and the requested family will get an email with a couple more forms to fill out.

Thanks for the info Wild Blue Yonder. We are waiting for the Instructions to Appointee packet. Will we request the family then, if they are a new sponsor family and they will get info from the academy? Thanks!!

The family will complete an application, submit reference letters and attend an orientation before being assigned as a sponsor family. We also chose to have a family friend who lives in the area serve as our son's sponsor...They had never done it before either. It's not a difficult process but a process nevertheless. Best wishes!
