Is it during the week or on the weekend? I just got one on Monday and it cost me about 70. I have one for 3 days this weekend and it is still 70 total, so something like 16 a day.

Keep checking ... rates can vary day to day ... we did much better than that last year ... and my car this year ... for Herndon ... is just $83 for THREE days ... including tax ... I hit a special ... good luck! and keep checking the "coupon codes" Id codes etc ...

FYI, if you are using Budget, on the first page there is a "pay in advance" link. If you do this, you save about 40%...and if you need to cancel, your $ is refunded.

The airport is not as convenient, but DCA (Reagan National in D.C.) may have cheaper rental cars. Most of the rentals are right on the airport (BWI's is in a remote facility about 10-15 min. courtesy bus ride away). I've found the time difference from landing to Gate 1 USNA to be less than 30 min. as long as there's not a traffic problem or during rush hours.

Thanks to Southwest, BWI is the cheapest airport for us to fly into, so we are stuck with it. Any dollars I might save on a rental car at Reagan or Dulles, I would more then spend on the airfare.
I'm just checking on a regular basis. I will get a reasonable rental!

Today, I got a small SUV (Ford Escape) for $160 (incl Taxes) for 2 days from Budget using their pre-pay option.

you definitely should check those rates again-I just rented a Chevy Impala for Jun 30-Jul 2d (which I believe covers I day?) from Hertz at BWI for $44/day. It does vary quite a bit- I am renting from Hertz out of BWI the weekend after next and am getting the same car for $24/day so timing is everything, but you can do a darn site better than $70/day.

I rented a compact from Hertz from the 21st until the 25th for 124 dollars total. That's using the USAA rate but its only 11 percent off the regular rate it was 18 bucks a day

On Hotwire the prices on the smallest cars are now under $60.00. I continue to watch the prices.
I feel like I am waiting on a visa to leave Casablanca...

Priceline....seriously the best. Name your price. We usually pay 50-60% less than the advertised rate.
Example...Rented a car last weekend in CT for 12.00 a day. The taxes per day were 14.00 though, but you are going to pay those regardless of the daily rate.
Good luck!

I looked at all of these discount places and the deal I got prepaying at Budget is at least as good as their lowest rate. And I got a Ford Escape (which I drive anyway) instead of a tiny car.
$10 cancellation fee if something better comes up.

It's now down to $42 for a subcompact.
I usually reserve the smallest car possible, none of which they ever have, and get a free upgrade to at least a mid-size. Last time at BWI I reserved a subcompact and ended up with a Mazda 5 for the same price.

Sorry, that was an off-airport price. I'll keep watching...

Do we really need a car to get from BWI to the Annapolis area? I was banking on a shuttle or cab...?

I've used this firm for over 10 years. Book online, pay by CC. Federal/military rates. Their rates usually beat Super Shuttle. Very reliable.

We got a midsize for the 12.00 a day at priceline.... A Dodge Avenger. Not a bad deal, except my very tall husband had a hard time seeing out the front window....which he does in 90% of the cars made anyway.
