Does a Military Branch Influence the personalities/mannerisms of each member?

For each of the 5 services, are there certain personality characteristics that each member shares in common? Would you say that each of the services leave an impression on each of their members in some way of their personality or the way they act (mannerisms)?

What would you how each of these services influence their members, or what certain characteristics each person who goes to that service have in common:

Coast Guard

Army

Air Force

Navy

Marines

Regardless of the branch, there is one characteristic they all share...SERVICE BEFORE SELF. Military members will always place that at the top of the chain when it comes to how they act.

Each branch has their own culture and traditions. There is also a pecking order:

The Navy and Marines are always picking on each other, but heaven help the Army puke who dares to mess with either, because that's when the Navy/Marine Corps Team sweeps the floor with all comers.

No one cares about the Air Force. :biggrin:

And then, when some blankety-blank, blanking, lowlife, bleeping, blapping, bleepity-blap blanker messes with Uncle Sam, ALL of them come out swinging.

It's a wonderful thing to watch, so long as you're on OUR side! :biggrin:

I think it is safe to say that we Marines always wanted to be first to fight, first to drink, first to anything. And we always wanted to stand out in a crowd....one way or the other, for better or worse. Oh, and we always had our boots shined and our uniform properly pressed!

I think it must be a genetic defect that sent us all to the same branch! :shake:

I think that came about with the introduction of computer based training and is throughout the services. :biggrin:

Hmm, I work for the Army and I do not get that feeling. However, it sounds to me like you are suffering from too much stress. May I suggest that you A) find a Private and have them dig a tank trap B) take up boxing, wrestling or something along those lines C) practice Zen or one of those other strange sciences that people say works to relieve stress. D) go home and have a party….

oh, Homicidal towards those dang computers......Why didn’t he say so…..I have a well placed hammer around to deal with computers.....along with the IT Dept number to get a replacement.

I haven't really come in contact with any Coast Guard personnel, but I've noticed that of that of the servicemen I've met:

-the Marines exude discipline and take a lot of pride in their jobs
-the Army guys are really friendly, but hate stupidity
-the Air Force guys are more the family types
-the Navy guys are somewhat more laid back personality-wise

Now, please don't think that I'm not saying that all servicemen fit in those categories or that those characteristics apply only to those particular branches. They're just what I've observed in general about the servicemen I've run into.
