Does anyone have any information on how one would transfer from an ROTC program to the academy? It's always been my dream, but when DODMERB DQed me, I withdrew my application from USMA only to find out I was waivered. Dumb move, I know.

Redo exactly everything you did last year, USMA application and nominations except DodMERB. It is good for two years but you will need the USMA waiver.
The good news is that you have an additional nomination source, that of your ROTC CO.

So I can ask our BTLN CO for a nomination? What about class standing? If I'm appointed USMA would I graduate c/o 2011 or 2012?

Yes, you are eligible for a nomination from your CO. At the end of the semester, you will request your college to forward your transcript. All academies, including WP, everyone starts at the beginning, Class of 2012.

You cannot actually transfer to any service academy. You would start as a new cadet and continue for four years.

You can transfer the academic credits, so on your final USMA transcript it would include whatever credits you may have gotten elsewhere, but in class standing you start from the bottom. Class of 2012.

Think of it this way... Even with a year's delay you have that much more experience to help you along the way. Good luck.

I had a classmate in the class of 06 who was about to be an MS4 and decided to apply to West Point, so it can be done, and ROTC is a nominating source, it's how I got my nomination (from NMMI), which is hardly ever used. Good luck
