Hello,
I am currently a junior in high school, and I have a few questions regarding admissions, and summer seminar. First of all, some background information on myself:
- 3.667 weighted cumulative 9-11 g.p.a
- full ap/honors schedule
- girl scout gold award (eagle scout for boys)
- presidential volunteer service award (500+ hours of community service)
- father is a chief master sergeant(grade E-9) in the air force office of special investigations
-mother is former army military police
- sister graduated 2010 from ROTC and commisioned as an officer
- softball,11 years (outside of school) recruited for interstate competition teams
- music beginning 11 years ago, multiple composition awards
as you can tell,I'm fairly busy. Though I must say I have had a slight stain on my record as in grades. Sophmore year,my father was deployed to Iraq for 6 monthes and my mother had major surgery. I have a 9 year old brother, and family always comes first.
My grades went down the gutter (failed first semester English, and recieved a D in second semester chemistry.) both grades were made up in summer school and recieved an A,and my first semester gpa is set at a 5.0(weighted). So this does hurt me. I'm wondering how my chances of admission look, for both summer seminar and the academy. My next question would be is it easier for women to gain admission into an academy,as they are still considered a minority?
This is just a side question. Will I be able to be academically qualified? The other two qualifications should not be a problem (presidential nomination, and full PT test done recently) thank you so much for any help, I appreciate it very much.
Sincerely,
Stephanie
