In the past Feinstein has typically held interviews by phone in mid December. Boxer typically waits until January for phone interviews. In the past, Feinstein has submitted her slate in mid to late January and Boxer typically submits her slate very late in January. The CA Senators compare with each other and try to coordinate with the reps as well in an effort to avoid double noms. It is certainly possible that they change the timeline but this is what historically has transpired.

Our son got a nomination from Sen. Feinstein last year (I believe it was late Dec.), but we only found out by checking the online application status. DS never got any notification from her office. I believe it was the week after when he also got a letter notifying him of a nomination from Cong. Lungren. Sen. Boxer's office called to do a phone interview mid-January.
