I was wondering if they give out the BDU's still or if they started being issued ABU's at the Academy? I know that West Point issues the ACU's.

They are issueing ABU's at BMT in Lackland so this year they might be giving out ABU's.

What about ROTC. Will they just parrot whatever the academy does? It says the mandatory wear date for AD is slated for sometime in 2011.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you have to buy them your clothing allowence will reflect that and the big difference is ironing. You don't iron ABU's but I doubt they take ironing BDU's at the Academy and ROTC to the extreme that they do for active duty. Are they issueing the green or tan boots?

Supposedly, the Appointee Kit says the boots are sage green (Belleville 650/F650). I found that here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/air-force-academy-colorado-springs/460563-boot-trouble.html

Not to the same extreme, but we do take it somewhat seriously. I won't wear BDUs without some creases (granted, sometimes they are not very good).

Yea. I didn't mean any offense and most of the officers/cadets that I have seen have creases. I never understood why they had us junior-enlisted taking it to such an exteme, I mean we would use pure starch consentrate, hair spray, and hours of our lives making razor blades out of sleeves and turning cloth into cardboard! Not to mention poket-rockets! I love my ABU's...which are laying on my floor right now!

I guess I understand the green boots getting issued. Lacklands giving out the tan but by the time these guys graduate the green will be required.
