:wow:When I checked the Dodmerb website yesterday afternoon, I saw my son's USNA Admission's status change from "In Process" to "Offer Extended"!!! I just about fell out of my chair!! We are so happy! Can anyone tell me how long it takes to have something actually appear in your mailbox? :wow::wow::wow: We just keep checking it and looking at it, making sure we are reading it corrrectly. Overwhelming feeling after the wait. I couldn't be prouder of my son. We are still waiting to hear on USAFA, but wow did we all sleep well last night! We have not even visited the campus, so I guess we need to do that asap. Any info on how the process goes from here will be appreciated.

CONGRATULATIONS! *happy dance*

For my son, DoDMERB status changed 2/16. MOC letter arrived Wednesday 2/24, USNA paperwork arrived 2/26. Sent acceptance back on 3/1.

Congratulations on the status change and pending appointment. Can't help much on the timing as son got his call from our MOC and official notification before his status change on Dodmerb (in fact his Dodmerb still shows in process). I would suggest asking for an invitation to a Candidate Visit Weekend. After son received his appointment he emailed his Regional Director (as listed on the CIS page) and asked for an invitation to attend and within a couple of days got an email confirming. He will be attending the March 25 - 27 CVW. I believe there are two more scheudled for April, but that will be it. This will be our 4th trip to USNA, but his first chance to experience things first-hand. Having already accepted his appointment, his goal is to get as much experience as posssible before I-Day.

That is GREAT news! Congratulations! We are hoping for similar news soon...

Congratulations behrsmom!

I definitely suggest asking for CVW as well. DD is still "In Process" and needing an eyesight waiver, but she phoned her RD last Friday to ask about CVW. She spoke to someone in the RD's office who told her "CVW is by invitation only", but after looking up her file, said "OK". She got an email that day and picked one of the April ones due to schedule conflicts...got a confirmation email on Monday.

I am taking the CVW offer as a hopeful sign, especially at this late date. Anybody have any viewpoint on that?

Well, subdude, it can't be a bad sign. I'm thinking that if they looked up her file and found that she was no longer in the running, they would have stuck to the "invitation only" story!

Congrats Behrsmom, Singaporemom and Rengland!

Son's status changed to "Offer Extended" on 2/25/10 (last Thursday) and we are still waiting for the appointment package from USNA (nothing came today). Others have reported waiting about 10 days, so I'm not worried yet, but it will be good to finally get the official paperwork.

BTW, we've had no letters, emails or phone calls from MOCs or BGO's (for USNA appointment offer, or USMA apt. offer that arrived Feb. 1st) - so like everything else, they all seem to do it a bit differently.

If we are waiiting for an NROTC scholarship decision, when would we get a dodMERB account? Is that only AFTER a scholarship offer is extended? Seems like others have one while they are still waiting, or am I mistaken. Thanks.

What I really want to know is how GOOD of a sign is it? Is it REALLY REALLY REALLY good?

This college stuff is going to kill me, in the end.

Gumtech, if you only applied for NROTC then the DODMERB account would only come after a decision. Lots of others already have DODMERB accounts because of SA applications in addition to ROTC.

Just received a phone call from Senator's office congratulating son on his USNA appointment. It's a pity son is still in school at this time and won't be home until tonight after track practice - it would have been great for him to get the call himself! Anyway, was told the Naval Academy mailed out his appointment on March 2nd, so it should be here any day.

STATUS CHANGE!!!
"OFFER EXTENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!"
(though, minus the extra exclamations... )

:jump1:

Spoke with your staff several times

Good deal:thumb:

I spoke several times with different members of your staff (once was when the power went out!!) :)

They are so kind and helpful and I compliment their professionalism.

It speaks highly of your leadership and management style.

Good job.

BTW, are you related to Adm. Mullen? Just curious. :)

Yes, kuddos to the Dodmerb staff and Mr. Mullen. When my son had a vision test, and was dq'd by the doctor he was assigned to (said he couldn't get him to 20/20 even with corrective lenses). We thought this was a bit unusual so I called and was given wonderful advice about submitting a second opinion to rebut the results. I took my son to a local optometrist, had his vision checked, and submitted the new information. He was cleared. Thanks for all the great advice you give.
