Senior Year Classes

What classes should I take senior year?

so far I have

Calc AB AP
English 4AP Lang
Marine Bio H
Gov/Econ
Leadership
Football/Track

Is this enough?
or should I add anything?

Four classes? Probably want to take some more.

because I want a free 5th to get ready for my practices/games/meets

I would say that it depends on what you want to major in.

However, I noticed that you don't have a language on there. Perhaps it would be a good idea to take a language class?

Take a writing class

You will be writing lots of papers! You will write papers in PE class!

A couple of points -
Is "leadership" a class? Football and Track don't count as classes do they?

Have you taken Chemistry and Physics yet? If not take them. If you have take them and your class offered Chem/Physics II or AP then take one of those.
AP Calc is good.
Gov/Econ - does your school offer AP? If so take that.
How many years of a foreign language do you have? You need two of the same language, preferably three.
The writing suggestion is good. Generally there is a lot of writing required in AP Social studies classes and AP English classes.

Other suggestions include - another social studies class, a different foreign language class, another science class. You do only have 4 classes and this is a weak schedule.

What admissions looks at when they evaluate your transcripts are the classes you take, the level of course, the strength of your schedule and how well you performed.

Finally - at West Point, you will never come close to such a weak schedule. You will take 7 (or 8) classes each semester.

Well I am taking Greek, AP Cal AB, Oceanography (took physics/chem already), HN Gov, AP MacEco, HN English, and Sacraments/Apologetics (Catholic School).

Maybe try to seperate your Econ and Gov classes? Take AP/HN Gov and then a seperate Econ Course. Since you're taking marine bio maybe you're like me and already took Chem/Phys. If not those certainly make you way more competitive than someone who hasn't. Three years of a language already? If not take another year of your language. Even if you have three years taking another year can't hurt.

Listing what classes your school offers would help. I know we need two semesters of computer classes at mine to graduate but if you haven't taken any computer classes taking one of those might help a lot. Also how many classes can you take a semester? If it is only five I would not waste one on study hall, which is what I assume you mean by football/track.

I have already taken 3 years of language (french)
the teacher is really crazy and i dont think i can hang in 4AP
im taking marine bio H because I have already taken physics ap and you can only take chem 2 ap during junor year
Im taking Gov during the summer at a community college and i dont feel like i am going to do anything business wise so i am taking econ regular then I will take comp gov ap during spring i think
We don't have any writing classes, only for ELD students
Computer Science ap at my school is a joke and its realllllly hard
leadership is ASB which is mandatory if i get elected (hopefully)
if I don't get in I'm thinking about taking Psychology AP
so so far my schedule looks like:

0: calc AB AP
1: econ/comp gov AP
2: Marine Bio H
3: English 4AP
4: Leadership/Psychology AP
5: No class
6: football(fall)/track(spring) counts as a class

and maybe JSA

I responded to this on the USAFA forum. I took 4 APs and 2 semester Honors courses (actually, those were gov and econ as well!). This course load served me well in the academy admissions process.

v1ctor1us, I'm curious, are you on a block schedule (4 courses/semester) or are your classes yearlong (6 or 7 classes everyday)?

I was also wondering about AP Physics---at my son's school AP Physics is a yearlong course. He is on a block schedule and he had the first part in the fall and is completing the second part now. Did you take that as a sophomore or junior?

Senioritis can really mess things up!! I don't care how motivated you are, the fact that you can see the "light at the end of the tunnel" can really mess up your school momentum. Be careful about letting your schedule look like you are slacking off--my oldest son was accepted to two excellent colleges (one private, one public) and both of them told him that they expected to see that he had challenged himself with the most difficult classes his school had to offer and that he worked hard up until the last day of his senior year. They both spelled out that if he did not uphold his end of the bargain, they would retract their offer of admission in a minute. From what I have read and heard, this has been one of the most competitive years in a long time for admission to West Point. I would be careful about leaving gaps or scheduling study hall when the competition is so brutal. I can only imagine that it will be even worse next year.

AP Psychology is a good course to take and can help you validate Psyc, which is a required class.
A computer class is helpful since you will take an IT class plebe year as well.
Did you take AP World History or AP US History?

I have normal scheduling and i've been taking 7-8 classes every year on a 6 period schedule and I am taking both Physics AP and APUSH this year

plus im close to getting recruited.. if that changes anything

Hmm, since this thread is here I might as well ask here. At my school, 6 classes is a full course load and 5 is considered the easy load. 7 is overloading. I have had 6-7 classes per year for my first three years of high school with 3 APs (counting this year).

Senior year I am only taking 5 classes, but they are:
AP English Literature
AP Calculus BC (I do alright in math, but it sounds like this will be hard)
AP Chemistry (considered most difficult course at school)
AP European History
Human Anatomy

Will me taking difficult classes negate the fact that I am "underacheiving" in total courses for the year? My other APs are World History (5), US History, and English Language.

Psychology cannot be validated since the Psychology class at USMA incorporates military applications to normal psychology making it different from the traditional class.
