Appointment=You are in, done deal=right?

Assuming you dont do somthing stupid like epically drop your grades ...... or rob a bank, then yes that is correct.

Appointees also must stay healthy. That's why we joke about "bubble wrapping" them. Show up on I-day in a cast, arm sling, etc., and you (most likely) get to go back home with mom and dad.

would one have to apply again for the following year, as in its all over if you get hurt? or do you automatically join the next class?

Until you take the oath on I-day, no guarantees. If you get hurt before then and have to reapply, you start the admissions process over, but a few things carry over. For example, your physical is good for two years -- but your nomination starts from Square One. As a consolation, reapplying shows a dedication and determination viewed very favorably by the Academy.

But get the bubblewrap.

This mom is trying hard not to lock her son in his room for the next 3.5 months! I've already had the "make wise choices" discussion with him twice, and we've only known about his appointment for a week! Poor kid. Remember, this is a kid who has never been in a day's trouble...Wow, Mom needs to chill!:rolleyes:

MomoftheMajik,

Keep having the conversations (even if you get the look). As graduation gets closer, parties and other activities will become very important because "I won't be able to do this once at USNA." As annoying as it was, I think I had something to say almost everytime my D left the house as I-day approached. In my mind, if the last thing my D heard was my reminder, maybe it would be the compass if she came to a cross road. I told her that I wasn't only worried about her, I was worried about what someone else might do that she would get caught up in by just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. My point here isn't to make you more nervous but to confirm that you are doing the right thing.

Hold on there! What acceptance section??? Have we missed something? :eek:
You're talking about USNA, right?

This is applicable to USMA appointees which has an acceptance section on the portal. For USNA appointees you just need to mail back the acceptance/declination form that came with the USNA appointment offer.
The appointment offer doesn't even show on the USNA CIS (portal).

Next Step...

Good one, 2014-scada!

If you buy the "anti-static" bubble wrap, does that mean your appointee will calmly pay attention to your reminders for using caution?????

...we need lot's of tape...then it wouldn't matter whether they listen or not...we can keep them next to us all the time! :yllol:
