Final decision made!

Congratulations! I'm an '86 grad and just came back from a week of MALO training at West Point. I was so impressed with the quality of the curriculum and facilities but what really blew me away was the intelligence and maturity of the young men and women of the Corps of Cadets. The leadership model the academy is now following will prepare you for the challenges that lie ahead. Take advantage now of enjoying the rest of your senior year and work hard on getting in shape (run, pushups, run, situps, run, run and oh some more running!) Best of luck!

Good choice! (out of curiosity, what were your other options?). See you in June!

Son (who has not been told about this forum) expects to also be rowing. We're looking forward to cheering you on!

Speaking of crew I had the good fortune to tour the new crew facilities last week. Crew had just started as I was graduating and it's come a long way. They have a new indoor training facility so they can practice year round as well as their own weight room right down by the river! I know next to nothing about crew and the cadets there gave us a great briefing. A lot of the shells are donated by alumni (classes and individuals), families and organizations. As I was running early Thursday morning (0600ish) I first heard then saw 3 shells (a 4 and 2 8's) coming up the Hudson. What a beautiful sight. And just so know Army crew as well as sailing and water polo BEAT NAVY this year!

Congratulations, I am also very impressed with young men and women who decide to make this level of commitment. It truly shows they have a good heads on their shoulder. And are committed to the greater good of our country. There are too many young men and women today, who let things up to people like yourself. I thank God everyday for our military and all the young men and woman, who decide to make the dedication and commitment and attend an SA,
Thank you for your service to our country, Good Luck and God Speed,

RGK

Congratulations! See you sometime next year. :thumb:

Hopefully?

I am guessing he meant he hopes he spots you out of the 1,300ish other New Cadets there (and their families). Not to mention the chaos.

I told my prents they are lucky- they may be the some of the only parents to be able to spot their kid, the 5'0'', 94 Ib girl.

Best shot of seeing your kid is on Rday, as the new cadets parade without a cover....once they are wearing them, it's much more difficult.

During the parade you will be lined up from shortest to tallest. You will also face away from the stands during a part of the parade. If you tell your parents which company you are in (it is much easier to tell them the number at which your company will enter or roughly were it will stand as you will know after the multiple parade practices beforehand) she will be sure to spot you.
