No one has been talking about it, so I figured I would bring it up.

I received my 'government furnished' plane ticket to AFA about a week ago. Has anyone else gotten theirs yet?

Same here. Got it about a week ago. The plane company accidentally charged the Academy a $1590 service fee instead of a $15.90 service fee.

WOW, talk about screwing up the records lol.

Does this mean those of you with an airline ticket already told the academy you were flying in to report. We are planning on making it a trip and delivering our son to Colorado Springs. How will that work with the Academy? I have seen some info on driving your appointee but not much. Also he has not received any more info since his status was updated to appointment accepted in early March. What will he receive next? Thanks for any info!!

After I returned my acceptance slip it was a couple weeks before I got anything else. The next thing I recieved was my Instructions to Cadets booklet or something with that sort of title. It had a booklet that talked about the academy some more and then a workout plan, a doctor's sheet that has to get filled out, a measurments chart for uniforms, and it also included a lot of other paperwork. It's mostly just a packet of stuff to prepare you for I-Day and a little more information on what needs to be done beforehand and what will be done during.

I haven't received my packet yet. Can someone post the workout plan?

This is completely possible, but if you expect reimbursement for travel expenses there is some additional paperwork/logging. If you want the quick and easy way, I'd recommend getting a government furnished plane ticket.

My sons were the only cadets flying from our local airport on the day before I-day, but their flight out of Dallas to CoSpr was packed full of incoming basics. They had a blast on that flight!! Have fun!

They will pay some of the appointee's expenses. You will find that some take their appointee to inprocessing and other appointees fly in and use the bed and breakfast option. If you go to inprocessing, be prepared to make the parting with your son/daughter as easy on THEM as possible. Be positive and supportive. They are beginning a GREAT adventure!
