Are These Boots Authorized?

I would shy away from buying stuff on ebay. Yes you will save about 30 dollars in this case but I don't think its worth the risk of getting screwed over by having the wrong boots shipped. Best bet is to call ahead to a local Army post or AF base PX to see if the boots are in stock and drive to try them on. Sizing is funny and you don't want boots that are the wrong size and not be able to return them because the purchase was via Ebay.

If these are not what I need, I'll resort to option B. But are these boots here authorized?
 
I'm not sure. The people at the USMA PX instructed me to get the 390 Des bellevilles, but check the boot letter and see what it says, I can't post stuff from the portal here (it requires logins)
 
All the boot letter says is:

"5. Unauthorized Boots: Temperate (cold weather) tan boots, Jump boots, Jungle boots, Hi-Techs, etc. will not be authorized for wear at West Point. If the candidate arrives with improper footwear, he or she will be issued the proper footwear at his or her own expense with no reimbursement of funds."

It doesn't mention any specific model of Bellevilles.
 
In a word, no.

You cannot wear steel-toed safety boots at Beast.

340s might not be authorized because they are flight/tanker certified boots.

Have you tried on the Belleville boots? My son usually wears a 12 or 13 tennis shoe but he ended up with a 10R boot.

ETA: Seems like this would be one of those instances where you do not want to draw undue attention to yourself at CBT.

From what ive heard, they give them to you on R-Day? If so, just wait till then cause then your son will have a specified selection and everything. Please correct me if I am wrong.
 
Szpieg, if you're curious about this, there are quite a few past posts on boots (one of which says they 340s are not authorized). Cadet appointees are required to buy boots and low quarters (the black dress shoes) ahead of time to give themselves time to break them in and get used to wearing them, to minimize blisters and other foot problems during Beast Barracks. Last year, they told new cadets to wait and get them issued at R-Day; this year, precisely because of those problems, they put the requirement back in place.
 
If you're unable to purchase the boots (due to financial problems), would you have the option of getting them on R-Day and just take the chance of getting blisters, etc.

Even though you say you are a 12R that really isn't accurate for boot size unless you actually tried on the boot. I measured my foot and yes i am a size 8 in womens but a size 8 boot was too big and my foot was sliding around- not good. I ended up with a size 7. So I would definitely take the opportunity if possible to try on any boot before purchasing.

Correct. That is what was stated at my son's overnight orientation, as well. No steel toes.

The West Point PX automatically broght out the 390s when they saw his boot letter.
 
Altama Delta rep today told me that the authorized model is 4158. I have not verified with USMA.

I've heard great things about the Nikes, too, but son was told not allowed for Beast -- great present afterward.
 
My son is going to USAFA and got his boots at orientation this week. He wore them to track practice and ran 3 miles in them. His coach and teammates thought he was nuts!
 
RE: Nike boots

When my son visited in February, he was told that the Nike boots could be purchased and worn after Beast if your company approved. Yes, they are quite comfortable and very popular amongst the cadets.

But not for Beast.
