I am taking my son to I-Day, along with his two brothers and best friend. Where is the best place to stay reasonably priced close to the academy? Also, are most Appointees choosing the B&B or will they stay with their P's or who ever is taking them out?

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

B and B

I think about 300ish+ use the B & B option....I know a couple years we had 4-5 at our place

Embassy Suites

Booked the Embassy Suites earlier this week for the 23-24 of June. $179 per night.

Last year before inprocessing I stayed at my future sponsor family's home, since they were hosting for B&B. But if the entire family is coming, I highly recommend the Academy Hotel. Fair pricing, great location, good breakfast, and just overall a good experience.

My son is doing the B&B thing. His choice.... :( I will survive, probably better choice for me, I think we all know that :)

My parents are bringing me out a few days early, and we're staying at the Academy Hotel again.

For those cadets who are doing the B&B program, what are you doing about toiletries such as toothpaste and shampoo?

Due to TSA standards of 3 oz. or less, we won't be able to bring out large containers necessary hygiene products.

Do sponsor/host families usually take cadets to wal-mart to pick some stuff up before I-day?

im sure they could...

Keep in mind they give you everythingggg in basic. Plus a nice trip to the C-store.

ZoomingFalcon -- I'm sure you can work that out with your B&B or Sponsors prior.... Go Wings!!

I've stayed at the Academy Hotel and also recommend it. In addition, the Drury Inn is directly across Academy Blvd and is also very nice. We took our son out last year for I-Day and stayed there and were very pleased. Might want to check rates of both hotels and then make the call.

We are staying at the Comfort Suites which is directly behind The Academy Hotel.

We are staying at the Residence Inn for Wednesday 6/23 and thursday 6/24 nights (obviously we won't have our son with us Thursday night...). Does anyone know if it is an okay place? It is $125 per night.

My husband and I are staying with friends in Denver Friday and Sat. night, but we wanted to be close by for thursday 6/24 am so we can try to see the swearing in from the Chapel wall.
Thanks!

It does seem weird to not take 'stuff' w/ you to the AOG B&B for I-day, but you won't need it

my son took: (carried in a backpack)
disposable toothbrush, disposable razor, clothes to sleep in, clothes for I-day (same clothes he wore on the plane), required USAFA paperwork (incl.ID's, passport)

also,if it applies:
glasses, contacts, orthodontic retainer, medications, ABU boots if you have them, cell phone? His B&B host let him call us when he got there b/c he left his phone home and we sent it out to him when he could have it, so it wouldn't get lost

2 days before he left, his buddies shaved his head so he didn't need a comb
he still got a hair 'touch up' on I -day according to regs.

I know, it seems very weird, but look at the issue list they give you (he did want more U-wear after BCT b/c the few they give you get trashed beyond recognition)

good luck!!

I'm actually staying on base with my parents before I-Day, were staying at the USAF Rampart Lodge (my dad is retired Navy). I stayed there when I went for my official visit, very nice place only like 1-1.5 miles from the USAFA campus itself.
