Okay, since a lot of us may be looking at this option I have some questions.
My understanding is that they are the same as scholarships (AROTC)offered by CC just a different source of funding. Is there any thing we can do to be more competitive for one? Any experience or advice would be helpful.

Goaliegirl had 2 campus scholarship awards - one directly from the campus (not posted on the AROTC status page) and one was processed through CC (posted on the AROTC status page).

It may have been a strange coincidence, but the one awarded through CC came within 2 weeks of goaliegirl calling and talking to the ROO regarding her situation. I would say having the applicant call the ROO and explain where they are in the school decision process and asking about the availability of campus scholarships can't hurt if the school is at or near the top of your list.

I will note that we did go out of our way to visit the ROO on campus while on a road trip back in October, so they did remember her.

I had no idea that CC could offer campus-based awards.Hmm.
Anyway, we have stayed in constant contact with our PMS as well as the LTC. They tell us that they have been keeping an eye on our son and have said that he is the kind of candidate they are looking for in their program. I think they are waiting until after these last board results are posted. I just want to make sure that we are doing everything we need to do in order to make sure he gets one of their campus scholarships if doesnt get CC award.
They want to see him at school orientation over summer and have him do PT test.

I think the campus based scholarship was offered through Cadet Command, not by Cadet Command. Goaliedad will have to verify this.

Good luck! Hopefully you'll get good news within the next few weeks.

Yes, through CC would be a better description than by CC. The paperwork was sent by the unit, the notification was on the Army ROTC site.
