When we do the shuttle run at SLS for the CFA, do we do it outside on a track (asphalt), in the grass, or indoors on a wood floor? What is the running surface?

i would guess a high friction surface like concrete/asphalt/basketball court...

Yeah, unless your wearing cleats, doing a shuttle run fast on grass is almost impossible.

That's what I was hoping cause I have been practicing in the grass...and constantly falling.....haha

I was there last year, an it was on the indoor track at gillis field house.

Alright I have a question...lets say i dont pass at SLS, I can retake it at school right?

To clarify, you can take the CFA as many times as you want. But once you submit your scores, USMA has to request you to retake if you're going to submit another score.

Dadandgrad,

I don't quite know what you mean...."once you submit new scores, USMA can request you to retake it....could you just explain a little more. Guess I am confused because once you take it or keep retaking it as stated above, then your asked to retake it by USMA....that could go on and on..... Sorry, I think this one went over my head.

I believe that if you fail an event USMA will ask that you take it again.

You can take it as many times as you want to WITHOUT sending your scores in for official consideration. If you take it once and are not happy with your results don;t send those scores in and take it again until you are satisfied with your results.

After you send your scores in they will be evaluated by the admissions staff and then and only then can the admissions department directly authorize you to take another CFA.

As soon as you send your scores in those are the scores that stand until you are authorized to retake the CFA.

Can anyone brovide examples of competive, solid, stats/results? Just as a target/goal.

Averages can be found in the CFA handbook available on the Candidate Portal. Admissions will not tell you what the maximums are. And it;s not hard to get past the minimums. You may be able to find a copy of the CFA Handbook in PDF form with a google search.

People will be admitted with scores above and below those averages. Shoot for the average if not better. Like I said admissions will not tell you what the cut offs for the maximums are.

Now I'm confused. So, if you take the CFA during SLS, are your scores considered "official" and hence, will have to wait for the admissions department to authorize you to take another CFA (assuming you are not happy with the results)?

Like I said admissions will not tell you what the cut offs for the maximums are.

The maximums ARE published. It is the minimums that are not published. Don't go over the maximums! You don't get any extra credit for going over the maximums.

buff81,

You are correct, that was my mistake, it's laid out in the CFA Handbook what the maximums are and what the averages are, they will not telll you what the minimums are.

Lee2015,

Sorry to confuse you, the CFA you take at SLS is likely the first one you will have taken. If you are satisfied with those scores you need not do anything else. In many situations the CFA is a Pass/Fail situation even though it will facotr into your Whole Candidate Score at some point. The CFA you take at SLS even though recorded and kept in your file will not hinder you from taking the CFA on your own if you are not satisfied with your scores from the one at SLS.

So the CFA you take at SLS, although used for official purposes, cannot hinder you from going home to a coach or gym teacher and taking it with them and sending those scores in as your official scores. Only after you have sent those scores in as your official scores to Admissions will you have to wait for them to authorize you to take the CFA again, there is no guarentee that they will do so.
