So, I spent a while today, trying to use the search function to come up with any information on Parents Weekend. I wasn't too successful!

Can anyone tell me the timing of the events. I think I saw something about attending class with your student on Friday? Also, when does it conclude? I would hate to have to rush through anything and leave earlier than required to catch a plane, if there is something that goes into Sunday evening.

Thanks for any insights!

Hi Fairwinds. If you go to the Parent's Association website and go to the home page, scroll to the bottom and you will see the basic schedule that Parent's Weekend follows each year. :thumb:

... if there is something that goes into Sunday evening.

Normally, Parent's Weekend ends on Sunday, but this year is unique in that Columbus Day falls on Oct 11 (Monday) so the cadets will have an extra day off.

I'm not sure if they'll get an overnight on Sunday night (as they will on Friday and Saturday) but it WILL give you another day to spend with them.

...if they'll have you! I heard a few cadets grousing about PW being on Columbus Day Weekend. I'm guessing they had some plans that didn't include dear old mom and dad!

We usually arrive on Thursday evening and depart on Monday morning. Parents Weekend activities begin early on Friday morning so you may want to think about arriving on Thursday evening. Activities include -attending your cadets classes, Boxed lunch with your cadet, Parents Association Meeting if you choose to attend, tours of the Ship simulators and cadet barracks, drill team demonstrations and various musical performances, and the Parents Association and Chapter Tables are open as is the Exchange. Activities are scheduled all weekend, including Sports, and are usually concluded with Sunday Services in the Chapel. There will be a schedule posted closer to Parents Weekend. If you go to the Parents Association Homepage and scroll down, about halfway on the left there is a box with bullets, click on "List of Important Dates." This gives you an idea of the calendar for the next 3 years and lists Important dates i.e. Holiday Leave etc...for the Academic year. You can go to the Listmaster and do a search to find the past Parents Weekend Itineraries. NOTE-If you are a 2014 Parent you cannot access "the List" until June 1st, but you can access the Important Dates Calendar.
This year being that it is a Holiday weekend the cadets should have overnight libo on Sunday night. My son has gone to a relatives home over this weekend in the past and not had to be back to CGA until libo expired at 1800(4th Class) or 1900(3rd Class). We are planning on departing about 4pm Monday afternoon to give our cadet time to do homework,etc... and to prepare for the upcoming week.

Hope this helps!

We have always attended the Friday classes, visited Chase Hall, milled around campus, taken our cadet to dinner Friday evening, gone to the parade bright and early Saturday morning, wandered around campus, gone to the football game and then escaped New London ASAP with our cadet to get her out of the 100 mile radius, then returned her to CGA on Sunday per her request (usually around 2 or 3 pm; she often had homework, needed to study for a test or cleaning to do in preparation for the upcoming week and didn't want to feel overwhelmed).
This year is special since PW falls on a long weekend; I imagine we'll be waving off to our incoming Swab sometime around noon on Monday. :thumb:
