This is just a quick yes or no thread...

As USAFA cadets, are we still required to sign up for selective service?
 
Maybe.

If a young man turns 18 at any time prior to actually attending one of the service academies, he is required to register.

If he turns 18 while attending, he does not have to register.

If he leaves the Academy and active military duty prior to his 26th birthday, he will be required to register then.

Curious, why he would have to register again? I would have thought they just kept them on file.

For example, I know that when Bullet retired, they stated to him, he was still eligible to be recalled for 5 yrs after retirement.

I would figure even if an 18 yo enlisted, did 4 yrs, that would put him at 22. If he is like Bullet that 5 yr recall issue would put him at 27.

Very interesting that they have that caveat. Never knew it existed.
