Wiley Hall is indergoing a well deserved, and long time awaited, external facelift. Looking at the Barney Square webcam, you can see the plaster/paint on the outside walls getting scrapped. It should soon receive a fresh coat of paint :thumb::thumb:

The flag pole

It is great to see Barney Square completed and Wiley getting fixed up! Any news on the flag pole? I heard that they couldn't repair it.

My DS says (as of the evening of 9 June) the base is repaired and in and the flagpole itself is expected for graduation.

Flag Pole returns

The flag pole has been repaired and restored to it's original height. The eagle will also be flying high atop when it is installed again. Its return and installation is scheduled for next Tuesday.
The academy looks great. They are really sprucing it up for graduation: new shrubs and flowers, trimmed hedges etc. And Barney Square is beautiful!

I heard that when graduation is over they will again rip up a potion of Barney Square in order to install a compass rose which was a gift from the class of 2009

I heard they are considering resuming nuclear weapons testing in violation of the START Agreements and all sorts of international laws and UN Resolutions and the that Kings Point is one of the candidate locations for the test's ground zero. I originally dismissed the thought as ludicrous but upon reflection, since it is Government owned property in one of the most expensive and highest average wage zip codes in the nation and we all know that the current Administration "hates" wealthy people, I've reconsidered and figured I'd use this board to discuss and spread unsubstantiated rumors and see if anyone else heard the same thing.

mmmhhhmmmm... sounds about right.

Ripping up Barney Square

Boy, I hope those cooling/heating pipes work!

for what its worth, we heard a long time ago that there was going to be a compass that was donated by a graduating class (apparently 2009) and were all kind of wondering where it was when they finished the brickwork. no comment on any plans to install, but as far as i know the compass itself is legit.

We dropped in this past Saturday and the Wiley Hall work was seriously in full swing (even on the weekend) and Barney Square was absoluteley beautiful. The flagpole was not installed yet but the area was fernced off and looking ready. We heard from one of the students at the NEX that the flagpole is expected in time for graduation. Everything looked very nice - we've visited a half dozen or so times in the past year and the improvements are very obvious.

the flag pole arrived today. They have started welding it together though it is not up yet.

I have it on good authority that the Flagpole was raised and is now in place as of 09:13 EDT today.

SWEET!:thumb:

They started setting up the stage for graduation today on tomb field. They set up a fairly large but still small tent over the stage and field. This will be big enough for the stage, class of 2010 and regiment but i feel like there won't be enough room for the parents and friends attending...if they have to sit in the bleachers then its a bummer because the view of us is obstructed by the tent...I really wish they consulted the Class of 2010 before making these decisions.
