Room Assignments for PS/AC Year?

I know that during the AC year, each company rooms in the same area of Bancroft. In the summer, do all the kids from the same company live in the same area? Are your roommates in the same company as you? And once the AC year starts do you keep the same roommates? Thanks!

plebes are grouped by companies over the summer and during the year. Plebes have no choice of room mate during the summer or over the year ... and last year our plebe's company reshuffled all the plebes after christmas break ...

this is in part to expose them to more situations and to realize as they get out in the fleet, they get what they get ...

Roommate and their selection is company specific. My son's company allowed the Plebes to select roommates at the beginning of the Academic year. They did not have to change roommates at the end of the semester plebe year or any other year.

He was "paired" with one roommate during second set of Plebe summer and they decided to room together for the Academic year and asked another to join them. The three remained roommates and best friends for all 4 years and the three families shared all Commissioning activities this past May. Friends for Life!

One thing to always keep in mind is what is the norm for one company may not be done in another company.

Company specific as previously stated. I'd be careful with the "out in the fleet" statements, sometimes it's just plebe harassment.

For women it may be slightly different. Depending upon the number of new female Plebes in the company and the total number of women in the company they may be able to choose roommates after Plebe Summer. For example; Nine women in Plebe Company and pick two others you want to room with. They can go all four years with the same.

Roommate selection is different for women. You don't have 30 guys to choose from, you have 6 to 8. You can't run away from a problem roommate, you must deal with it.

In my Mid's company, Plebes were assigned roommates throughout the entire year, although the number of Plebes in her room went from 3 to 2 to 5 from PS through the two Ac year semesters. Towards the end of Plebe year, they were allowed to choose roommates for Youngster year, but the 7 women had to work together to make the numbers work for the available room sizes. You can't put 2 people in a 3 person room, etc.
