Well- it's a hot summer day and the US World Cup hopes just went down. So now for something completely different. What song makes your heart sing for your "significant" other? I' ve got two that make my wife of 25 years and I suddenly seem like kids again. What are yours? Top these if you can:thumb:

Wow, dating youreself bruno, I think of another song when I hear rightous brothers but that must be a navy thing. Anyways I was thinking closer by NIN.

Yep - I am dated athough those songs pre-date my "functional" youth- (I was about 10 when the Mel Carter tune hit the charts!) but they were great tunes to convince an about-to-be-wife 25 years ago that I was worth keeping:rolleyes:
Can't say I am familiar with "Closer"- stick a link in so those more elderly on here can check it out!

The Mel Carter tune- "Hold Me, Thrill me, Kiss Me" was played in the movie "We were Soldiers". I thought that it was one of the most evocative and accurate scenes in a movie I have ever seen. It captured so exactly how I felt when I was kissing my wife and baby boy goodbye and walking onto the plane. I liked the song before that- ever since I saw that scene in the movie I have loved it.

When we were in Hawaii, I periodically used to take my staff down to Waimea Bay on the North Shore for PT- we would run up the hill on Pupukea Road to "Elvis' house" then back down to the beach. If it had been me- I darn sure would have been staying there instead of that pink monstrosity in Memphis!
 
I'm apparently way too young for this whole thread, good songs choices though. Bruno, I didn't put a link because the song is not appropriate for this forum.

Well Kero: just cause it is us old guys posting now doesn't mean that there aren't a bunch of tunes out there that do it for a somewhat younger crowd. Let's hear em! And where are all those Moms out there? You can't tell me that you have to be a 50+ year old guy to have a tune that makes this list?:smile:

Correct. I'm not sure the song could even be regarded as a minor hit, but most folks I play it for seem to like it. Especially the wife.

Since it so flipping hot here in the NO VA/DC area I am going to say my summer song is

Walked to my car in our driveway and my forearms were pouring out water:thumbdown:

I am now considering asking Bullet to find a job in AK!

Too bad that the author of this song charges insane prices...in NoVA a ticket goes for...get this...500 a seat!:eek::jaw::sadwavey::screwy: Darn I thought he was for the every guy...guess not!

If we are talking summer songs, Alan Jackson "5 O'Clock some where should be on the list" If we are talking memories of summer songs, then we have to put Lionel Richie's Endless love on the list:thumbdown:

Answer: "Yeah the same can be said of Hell":biggrin: "and you'r the only bait in town" He was suposed to do Naval Academy last year on a vote by Mids but he backed out. Bummer I would add "Aruba, Jamaica". I think that went number one twenty years after their first number one.

:shake: Yep, I know the "...it's 90+ twice: temp and humidity" feeling VERY well. I guess being a FL boy...I was sorta used to it. The heat of the desert, here and overseas, I was NOT.

Music for summer...I really like ALL the options I've seen. Parrot heads unite! But for 'Zona...hmm....toughie...

"Highway to Hell" came to mind...as did "ELP's: Welcome back my friends, to the show that never ends..." re: HEAT and the invasion of winter people every year.

But you know, really...in SUMMER...any song that relaxes you while sipping a cold beverage...that works for me!
