Would I make a good candidate? I am a NROTC applicant, just had my interview the other day, so I should hopefully find out around September, October, but I also want to apply for the Naval academy.

Anyways, how do I look:

GPA- 3.21 (last updated in June of '09, should be around a 3.3, hopefully higher.
Rank- 295/516 Weighted (As of June '09)
Sports- Baseball, Volleyball (out of school, trying out for school baseball this year (again))
Jewish
SATs- 1710 (ehh) Math- 620, Reading- 520, Writing- 570
ACT- 25 Composite, 27 on the Math/Reading
A few Extra curricular activities

I have been a camp counselor for 2 years, recently promoted to senior counselor.

A little charity work

Play baseball in a local league.

Bump.

Even if you think I am wasting my time applying, tell me anyways. I can take it, seeing as I already submitted my preliminary application and caled/left a message on my congressan's voice mail.

Just let me know on what I can improve.

Understand there are many, MANY things that go into the making of a candidate. But, for what it is worth, here's my thoughts. Sure would like to see you with a stouter GPA and class rank. Do you have some leadership in those extra curricular activities? You can look at class profiles on the USNA website to see how test scores, class ranks, etc have played out in recent years. Where you live also plays a part. Some areas are much more competitive than others.

I will tell you that this past year, on this forum, there were lots of applicants with eyepopping scores, GPA's, Eagle Scouts, varsity athletes, team captains, who did not get appointed to the Class of 2014. Some I thought were for sure make it. But, again, who knows how that interview went. What was in their heart, etc.

Good luck!

I was told at USNA STEM by several mids and an O-3 that works with admissions that determination is a serious factor.
