If you are deemed uncompetitive for admission, how will west point let you know. Do they send you a letter or automatically close your file. Or, if they are feeling optimistic, do they give you a chance to improve your weak areas?
Input would be nice?

I didnt apply to west point but I will let you know about applying to Navy and USMMA, hopefully they are similar. You should have to do a preliminary application before which will deem if you are "competitive" or not. If you are not they should send you a letter letting you know you are not. If you are competitive, they should send you either an online login name/password or more paperwork which you will use to complete the rest of your application. (This will include recommendation letters, sat/act scores, transcripts, your CFA as well) and of course your nomination stuff. WP will look at all of these and you will be awarded points in each section of your application and the higher the score the more likely you are to get in. A nomination is REQUIRED though so you have to have that. Well I think that's it if anyone has other input particularly those that applied to WP please jump in

thanks for the input. Well here is my situation, I was given a file with a login and password. Yesterday, I recieved an email from the admission team of my region and they notified me that if I dont add my standarized test scores they wont do anything with my application.

The thing is however, my PSAT scores and first SAT scores are not the best, I got a 950 on SAT. So I'm worried that they will cancel my file even though I already recieved a nomination and I have accomplished other things. I'm working everyday practicing for SAT and ACT, so I dont want my hard work to be a waster over one test.

They won't cancel your file. That's the purpose of the prelim. With regards to your SAT/ACT, you have two viable options.

1. Turn your scores in, and then send your new scores in when you re-take.
2. Completely wait until you take the SAT/ACT again. When they say "they won't do anything with the application" that just means they aren't going to evaluate it until its complete.

All the email said was that they need my test scores before they can do anything with my application. I know my odds are very low, but I'm hoping that I can continue with the admission process

They need every part of the application before they can do anything with it. Same with recs, CFA, transcript, etc. It's just some moto to get you to complete the app.

You never know unless you apply.

They have not notify me about me CFA, my CAR, or cadet statments. Right now my file is saying

"Please be patient, continue to seek nominations, and continue to seek ways to improve yourself in all areas."

both of my parents were in the air force for 20 years, so I applied for the service- connected nomination.

Well I am qualified for that Presidential nom too, but that doesn't mean it's all sealed up. I've been told that 500 people apply for that nomination but only 100 actually receive an APPOINTMENT from that nomination.

my philosophy is that "as long as I get a nomination." I also applied for a ROTC nomination and a congressional nomination.

Yes because plenty of people receive nominations that do not receive appointments. You MUST have a nomination to even be considered, so having a presidential nomination (the one that sons/daughters of men/women that served 20+years can receive) does not automatically mean that you will be accepted, it just means you are covered for that part of your application:thumb:

i know. Im only worries about my standarized test. My leadership is ok (im battalion commander), i did varsity weightlifting and plan to do again along with varsity swimming. Other accomplishments is im a delegate for boy state and im decent in my class rank.

AKH that is true-only about 100 Presidential nominations will get admitted. However, my assignment officer told me that if I get an LOA that means I have gotton one of those 100 nominations. If you do not get an LOA, make sure you apply to your congressmen and women for a nomination

I'm just waiting for them to do something with my application. I hate playing the waiting game.
