Trip Report AIM Session I
When my son attended AIM I, my youngest son and I stayed at the SpringHill Suites ($95 per night plus tax) for 2 days. We then took a high speed Ferry from New London to Block Island and stayed there at a Bed and Breakfast for 2 days. We returned to the "mainland" and stayed at Mystic Marriott for 2 days and then picked up our Aimster and went home. We didn't go back to the SpringHill Suites because they charged $189 for Friday night and the Mystic Marriott charged $101 plus tax.
SpringHill Suites - $95 per night plus tax, included breakfast, free internet, sleeper sofa, refrigerator, & microwave in every room. The hotel was nice and very clean. Breakfast was o.k., they would run out of things, eggs were o.k., cereal even better!! The waffle maker needed a good cleaning..... Front Desk very friendly and nice. very close to CG academy.
Mystic Marriott - $101 per night plus tax....Does NOT include breakfast or have free internet, no fridge, no microwave. Even though it did not have these extras it was an extremely nice hotel and very clean.....The bed was absolutely to die for!!! Room actually seemed larger, bathroom was definitely larger. Front Desk very friendly and nice. Pretty close to Academy, jump on hwy and then over bridge and jump off hwy. We didn't eat at hotel, went to McDonalds!!!
If I go back to New London, I would stay at the Mystic Marriott and eat breakfast somewhere else (breakfast buffet was $$), they did have a office center where you could access internet, but it was nice to be away from internet for a couple of days.. The best part was the great nights sleep....the bed was really to die for!!!
Oh and if you have the time, definitely go to Block Island, it was really fun....a true New England experience for this Kentucky Mom & son......but we did miss our sweet tea
