I just received my AP scores (APUSH, chem, and Lang&Comp) and I am terribly shocked at how bad I did on US history. I'm not at all satisfied with it. I studied my butt off for the exam and thought I would do well on it but sadly this wasn't the case.:frown: I'm beginning to suspect that I may have skipped a problem on the MC part and caused my answers to shift up one; at least, I'm trying to forget about this whole thing by giving myself the benefit of the doubt.

I know I shouldn't be grieving about this situation but I couldn't think of any other way to relieve this anxiety besides posting it on a thread -_-. Would my scores alone hurt my chances considering that I have good SAT/ACT scores and EC?

Thanks

Don't worry about it at all, they don't even look at your AP scores!

By the way, perhaps you should call collegeboard and see if they made a mistake with your APUSH score. CollegeBoard is notorious for making mistakes with AP exams... I knew a kid who took the APUSH exam two years ago and got a 2! He called them up, and it turned out they left and ENTIRE FRQ out of his scoring. When that was fixed, he ended up with a 5!

Really?? I thought they looked at your AP scores in the admission proecess...

And that kid's so lucky!! I can only hope that they made the same mistake on mine.

Thanks, I think I feel somewhat less anxious now.

No, they look at your transcript to see if you took any AP classes to challenge yourself. As long as you earned good grades in them, you should be fine.

The only time they will look at your AP scores is if you get accepted and you are trying to get into higher classes or skipping certain classes. But even then, you'll still have to take their exam (similar to a college final) to verify your AP score...or at least that's how USMA does it. USNA probably does the same thing too.

Is it worthwhile to send AP scores? If so, would anything less than a 4 be a detriment?

At our school the AP scores show up on the official transcripts ... and not "passing" did not keep my son out of USNA ... it showed a progression ... chemistry, AP chemistry, physics, AP physics ... and that he did well in the class ... to "pass" for USNA ... you must take the USNA validation test ...

Thanks for the info. I will check with our school to see if they also are on the official transcripts. Would save a separate request and fee from college board.
