Hello, I am currently a high school student going into my junior year. I live in Georgia.
What my question is, is it to late to start pushing for the naval academy.
I have been just getting by with mostly B's in high school with some C's.
If I were to apply to the naval academy I would have to start during the fall next year.
Does that leave me enough time to get my grades back up to a competitive stand-point.
Thank you for any help.
Also is there anyway to check how many people from you state attend service academy's.

Of course you can build up your grades in one year. My friend was able to raise his GPA quickly by taking many, many AP courses, and doing well in all of them. The point now is just to take as many challenging courses as you can, provided that they give you some weight on your GPA. With that, you should have no problem of raising your GPA.

However, you do have to send in your transcript. So in an essay, if you can provide details as to why you faltered during your few years, making sure to state that you quickly learned to take responsibility in your grades, that shows your maturity to USNA, which, of course, they truly appreciate.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you.
I am taking two AP classes so if I work really hard I get A's. But my determination to go to the Naval Academy will surely motivate to make changes in my academic career. Also will they take into account what classes you will take your senior.

They certainly will take account what classes you take during senior year. Again, the more challenging the course load, the better. However, military academy's look for well-rounded applicants, so if academics aren't your strongest point, I am hoping that you are good at some sport or that you have substantial leadership experience...or even better: both.

Between your junior & senior year is a great time to visit various colleges you are interested in with your parents. You should really visit any college you are serious about attending. Visit the Naval Academy and talk with current mids to get a better understanding of their views on things and to make sure this is something you really want to do.

Only you can determine what grades you get and where you need to improve. Read back on older threads on this and other similar sites since the same type of questions come up every year and you can quickly gain a lot knowledge about the academy as well as the application process by reading older posts.

Frankly, no one one here can assess your credentials and tell you if you will get an appointment, so I wouldn't get overly wrapped up in that.
