Marching with Rifles

My daughter saw them yesterday marching with rifles on the live feed. She was wondering since they are Merchant Marines, shouldn't they be marching with "Tridents"? hahaha:shake:

When my DS was doing indoc, he had to SLEEP with his rifle. In fact, they had to name theirs. His was named Aunt Jemima. He loves pancakes. :shake:
 
Since they are not allowed to use rifles, why not use something they CAN use. Like a bag of cookies. I would like to see them march with a bag of cookies.

What gave you the idea they are not allowed to "use" i.e march with rifles?
 
Not march with rifles but use rifles on the ships. They are not allowed to use any firearms at all while on the ships so why march with them. March with something they can use on the ships, tridents, cookies (since they seem to all ask for them), rope, etc.
This is to be funny, not a serious post.
