Universities with Guaranteed Admission Policies

University of Oklahoma has a Guaranteed Admission Policy

Out of State:
3.5 GPA + top 25%
OR

26ACT + 3.0GPA (1170 ACT)
OR

26ACT + Top 50% (1170 ACT)

Anybody know of other Universities with similar policies?
Or better yet, a list of Guaranteed Admission colleges?

WOW, that is really interesting. I have never seen a school say if you have these stats you are in, especially for large universities. Maybe it is a midwest thing.

Stranger yet the IS is lower scores, and typically now a days IS is more competitive than OOS due to the economy. For example, in VA(UVA, VTech, and JMU) for state schools, they just announced that all 3 schools had over 30K applicants each for 4K spots. UMD announced that they too has the same stats. It was a crazy yr for state universities on the east coast.

Side note remember that depending on the branch, and the scholarship, guaranteed admittance does not mean guaranteed scholarship. With the guaranteed admittance of such low scores, you may find that the scholarships were more competitive because everyone used them as a safety.

If you are doing AF, scholarships are given on your stats, thus if you are looking at this school as a match, you might find it hard to receive a scholarship that will cover OOS costs.

Students must take the writing component of the SAT and/or ACT in order for the test score to be considered, and
* have successfully taken all recommended coursework, and

I thought that was law for all public universities in TX (top 10% hs grad get admittance automatically). I wish VA did that, we do not have that program, it is dog eat dog here. OSU for IS is even lower than that, uwgpa of 3.0, 24 ACT and top 50%. Those stats were the real shocker to me. 24 ACT is low. 1090 SAT is low.

True, Texas law guarantees top 10% admission to state colleges, but they have a program called CAP (Coordinated Admission Program) - Which puts some students on the satellite campuses, with the possibility to move to the main campus later, lots of good TX students are CAP'ed .

Texas A&M's admission policy does not specify which campus for automatic admission, I guessing 'lesser' students end up on the satellite campuses.

Texas is much more difficult than Ohio:
UC, Miami, OSU satellite campuses are all 'open admission', (all you need is HS or GED)
Do your freshman year, get at least a 3.0 GPA, you can transfer to the main campus.

VA state program is if you go to a CC for 2 yrs full time and a 3.0 gpa+ than you get guaranteed admission to state universities.

This of course is becoming very popular because of the economy. Even 20K a yr for IS can be hard for people to cover, especially if you have more than 1 in college.

We also don't have a system like Penn State, UNC, NYU or Rutgers (NJ) where you can be accepted to the state university, but not the main campus. UVA has one campus, Tech has one campus, there are no satelites. What we have, and what MD has, is the state university (the big boy) and then smaller state universities, like VCU, or Christopher Newport, which have lower stats to gain admittance.

Just got back from the state of Washington. I daughter looked at Washington State and has very simular policy. They will work with the student to get them admitted. Very nice school. My daughter will be applying there.

I just had to jump in since my youngest son will be attending WSU beginning next month. He got his acceptance back in November under the in-state student guaranteed admission. We were relived since it is the only school he wanted to attend.

We just went to freshman orientation last weekend, it is mandatory for the students and optional for parents. I would recommend at least one parent attend if possible because they do give you lots of helpful information. My son was set on AFROTC until he went to the AROTC workshop at orientation. Now he is seriously considering going Army. We were so surprised but happy since this will open up more options for him.

I see you are from PA...my husband is originally from Chambersburg PA, we met when he was stationed at Ft. Lewis 24 years ago. How did your daughter get interested in WSU?
