How far and at what pace should incoming ROTC cadets be prepared to run. I know the PFT running part is 1.5 miles..

You need to be able to run at least 2 miles. Assuming you 17 to 21 years old, the minimum passing time would be 15:54.

This is for army though. I assume since you said 1.5 miles you are talking about AFROTC?

That makes sense every link I looked at said 2miles for AROTC. For the AFROTC run from it is 12:30 on the 1.5 mile run.

Keep in mind 15:56 is the slowest that you can run and still pass the APFT... I would try for something faster.

Personally, I set a goal of under 13:30 for 2 miles. When I run, I alternate between 1, 2, and 3 mile runs. I try to keep about a 6:30-7 minute pace.

When I started running, I sucked. :yllol: It takes time and effort, but eventually you will improve if you put the work in. I still don't really enjoy running, but I now know I should be able to pass the APFT.

I agree with OC 100%. Your cadre wont be too happy with you if you are just doing the minimum to get by. I run 5 days a week taking Saturday and Sunday to rest. I never go less than 2 miles, and sometimes its beneficial to take a long slow run of 5 plus miles.

Don't forget the Navy.
