Are visitors allowed to come visit and have me give them a tour, like normal? Or does the academy restrict that the day before parents' weekend begins?

Thanks!

That's a question best asked and answered by your squadron. You're there. They're there. Ask them. But to answer you anyway, I believe the answer is no. The last 2 years I've gone down there, I don't remember the cadets being able the leave the cadet area. (At least not the C4C's). And guests aren't allowed into the cadet area. But on Friday, besides visiting you and your classes, there will be plenty of time for you to give all the tours of the place you want. You can take them to your room, squadrons usually all have get togethers, etc... You'll have plenty of opportunities to show friends and family around. But rules tend to change year after year. You need to ask your squadron. Mike...

Thank you, I have been asking upperclassmen, and have not received a clear answer. I realize we'll have time Friday, but it would be nice to see them for some extra time Thursday.

As your Squadron Staff. That's what they're there for. When I say check with your squadron, I mean someone of significance. Not just a C3C who is in the Squadron.

You can also go meet them at the chapel, like so many other cadets will be doing with their parents.

Things do change from year to year, but last year we met our then 4* at the Field House after classes were over, and he then escorted us through the T-zo to Arnold Hall for a parent get together. He then walked us back to our car by the field house afterwards.

did these take place on Thursday or Friday? because on Friday, I'm planning to have them come to classes with me.

ASK YOUR SQUADRON LEADERS. No more clear advice than that (right on, Mike!).

I believe, too, that the answer for Thursday meet-ups, especially for 4*s, is generally NO. Your parents can tour the visitors center, which can take up a good couple hours with all the stuff that's in there. The Chapel, and other bldgs outside the cadet area might be open, too.

Remember, it's not Flagship State U. It's also a military base.

I'm sure your superiors can answer more fully, but last year tons of parents met up with their cadets on Thursday night just outside of the Arnold Hall area. I believe you will be given your cellphones for the occasion and will be able to coordinate a meeting place when the time comes. I was on the phone with my son as he guided us into the parking lot where he was waiting for us. No tours, no squadron visits, just a little time with your family prior to the official start of Parents Weekend.

Hope it helps.

Last year there were tons of then C4Cs eating dinner with their families on Thursday evening at Arnold Hall inside and outside of Arnold Hall. There are some great picnic tables outside of Arnold Hall and it is much more quiet than inside.

However, we drove up HOPING to see our then C4C that evening. Nothing was definite until we heard from him late that afternoon. But by the looks of all the C4Cs, alot of families hoped and got to have dinner with the cadet that evening.

But.. don't look for your C4C to give you a definite answer because they just will not know until the last minute (a way of life alot of the C4C year). Ours called and wasn't even sure he was suppose to come - he asked me to look at "identifying clothing and how it was worn" to determine if there were other 4 digs up at Arnold Hall that night. Turns out there were tons and we had a great first visit with him.

thank you very much for that info, i realize that my upperclassmen/chain of command probably have the answers to this question too, but i like receiving actual details of what has happened in the past rather than other unsure or "you'll find out later/when you need to know" answers

We are meeting up with my IC daughter after her practice on Thursday at the Field House. The team has planned a get together for the parents:shake:

:shake: Exactly the answer my son has been given when he's asked any similar questions. Not as easy to get the answer sometimes as you might think!

THANK YOU! i don't mean to be disrespectful to any members of this forum, but non-answers are not helpful. also, as a 4-dig it's preferable to stay in the safety of the internet rather than to venture out in the hall

Last year we were able to meet our 4 dig by the Chapel and had a nice picnic dinner on the grass -- she actually had quite a bit of time free, from about 5 pm until 7 pm or so. IC athletes even had time to get together, as I recall. Just bring a blanket and a picnic -- you may need to be a little flexible on the timing. As always, there could be a squadron here or there that makes a different decision and maybe at the last minute -- but as I recall the upperclassmen were also anxious to get a break and were willing to let 4 digs have some undisturbed time with their parents/families. The Academy wants to welcome families that weekend -- so upperclassmen and staff try to make things as welcoming as possible.

I understand what you're saying, but remember WHY you decided to apply to the academy and serve your country. And you as "CADETS" are this forum's greatest asset for assisting those applying. Just like those last year helped you. I'm not saying that you can't find answers here, but the "safety" you seek is not here on the internet. Remember again why you applied to the academy. It's not about you. It's about the team. And no, you don't need to wait until you're a C3C or C2C. I won't preach on this subject again to a "Cadet"; but it is time to become part of the team. It's not something that magically happens after recognition day. Anyway; glad you got your answer.

I remember those days. You'll become more confident out in the halls with greeting soon enough. Surely your coach can help find you an answer from the higher ups though, if you'd like to stay safe in the room.
