Hey everyone, just found this forum and thought I would ask a question or two in regards to applying to the USMA.

1. I took the ACT in high school and got a 28. However, this test was taken WITHOUT the writing portion. Would I have to take the test again, even though I graduated in 2009?

2. I am about to contract as a cadet in the ROTC program that we have at my college simply as a backup plan. Will this effect my application in any way. Example, making me ineligible? Or would I have to repay the cadet money that I earn if I was accepted into the USMA?

Here are my current stats.

Age- 19
Rank- SPC
ACT- 28
College GPA- 3.911
PT Score - 265
Letter of approval from my battalion commander.

How do you think I stack up to other current soldiers that may be applying?

Thanks in advance!

Matt

I would say you need to jack up that PT score. The 18-21 bracket is not hard to max PU/SU on, so even a decent run puts you in the 280-290 range. I can't tell you offhand how the ROTC contracting would affect it.

I've been working on situps like crazy. I can max pushups not problem and run a 13:45-14:00 two mile currently. I'm just awful at situps. However, when I do them in the style the the CFA calls for, I can do about 20 more. Something to do with the weight distribution of my shoulders I'm sure.

I'm honestly not worried about anything PT related. I know I can get that up. I just haven't taken math in such a long time that If I had to take the ACT again I actually think it would drop a little bit.

Also note that I've already passed TWO english writing classes in college. Is there some sort of waiver I could get? I'm not looking to duck out of it, I'm just taking 18 credit hours this semester and would rather focus on keepinga god GPA rather than a test that I took 2 years ago.
