I just finished reading Psalm 91 God's Shield of Protection (military edition) by Peggy Ruth. Stories about God's intervention in the lives of our troops. It was given to my son after training.

My next is going to be The Miracle of Dunkirk by Walter Lord.

I've ordered others-any recommendations?:smile:

I can't agree more it is my favorite of the bible and the most beautiful hymn, I have heard. I have a CD where Michael Crawford sings it. Every time, I sing it in church where ever, I get choked up. Our Lord and Savior in the man.

God Bless you and your family,

RGK

Thank you, rkrosnar.

Here's another:

God in the Foxhole by Charles W. Sasser (former Green Beret)

God Saw Them Through by Glenn Alan Thomas

Story of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom
at An-Nasiriyah, Ad-Diwaneyah, and Al-Kut.

Not a Psalm or story but I have loved this since I first heard it. The music was actualy used with the words changed for my Daughters High School Hymn.

Better than Wild Blue Yonder and The Caissons Go Rolling Along. Actually, I think, originally a Royal Navy Hymn.

AF6872,

Thanks a million, it was beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes.

God bless,

The sound is lovely.
Here are the words.

The original words were written as a hymn by a schoolmaster and clergyman of the Church of England, the Rev. William Whiting. Rev. Whiting (1825-1878)
In 1879, Rear Adm. Charles Jackson Train, an 1865 graduate of Annapolis, inaugurated the practice of concluding each Sunday's Divine Services with the singing of the first verse of this hymn.

Eternal Father, Strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bid'st the mighty Ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to thee,
for those in peril on the sea.

O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
and calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!

Most Holy spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!

O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee,
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.:smile:

A Table in the Prescence by Lt Carey H. Cash

In 1940, 338,000+ troops were evacuated from the shores of France while surrounded by the Germans.

Addressing Parliament Churchill called it a "miracle of deliverance". Some of the miracles that took place were:
-The English Channel was as calm as a millpond for 9 days.
-Hitler placed a halt order on his Panzers,10 miles from Dunkirk.
-The weather kept the Luftwaffe from straffing and bombing the men.

God Saw Them Through by Glenn Alan Thomas

Story of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom
at An-Nasiriyah, Ad-Diwaneyah, and Al-Kut.

Every member of the 2/8 returned home. For their efforts they received the Presidential Unit Citation Award the highest combat decoration for unit performance in war.

I have a new respect for Marines.
