AFA -- Wyoming

It was not one of the prettiest wins, but we'll take it. We have a lot of work for next week, or we're not going to be able to beat navy. But I have faith in the falcons. They'll get it together.

No, it was too D close!!!

FYI...don't know what it was with ESPN back on the east coast but my father is at his Medical School 50th reunion in Gainesville, FL and he called ME for the score!! NOBODY in FL could tell them and ESPN wasn't reporting it?! :scratch:

Go figure!!!

I am actually thinking about getting into the car this week and heading to Colorado Springs. It's only 1500 miles. So if you see a decrepid old fart in Navy blue and gold from head to foot, drooling, and humming Anchors Aweigh slightly off key, give him a beer. He will need it.

Anyway, this game will define Navy's season. We should have beaten Maryland. They have a long history of poor sportsmanship against us which is why we haven't played them in almost 50 years. It continued this year and I feel cost us the game. Crowd noise is great. It is the 12th man. But when the entire marching band is going full bore when the other team is running the ball, it is uncalled for. Against the rules in many conferences. During our final drive, it cost us an offsides and rattled the team. Then a Saturday GA Southern game after a Monday game. Ask Va Tech. Hard on the players. And Ga Southern knew our offense as well as we did. Our defense was great in both games (after UMDs only two touchdowns on their first two possessions).

Ricky Dobbs has been touted as a Heisman candidate. He was also elected captain of the team. Either he has been attempting to carry the team or validate the Heisman hype the first two games. He tried too hard. Bottom line, if we need a yard and you line eleven guys up on defense on our center, I hope he doesn't try to run the ball over all eleven of them.

The altitude will be a factor but Navy is in as good a shape as I have ever seen them. And my feeling is that this is the best Navy team in quite a while.

It's going to be a great game.

This game is going to present a delimma for me; husband, Air Force Retired;
grandson, AFA Doolie; son, Navy active duty! I sort of feel like Olivia Manning! I'll get a win no matter what, but unfortunately a lose also!

Dropped

AFA dropped to 29th in the AP poll (from 26th.) Nevada moved into the 25 spot instead of AFA. However, each Big Ten school in the top 25 should be dropped at least 5 spots because the entire league played puffcakes (in the 4th week!)

Mongo; if you actually do make it out to the air force vs navy game, you most definitely welcomed to our Thudgate. We may have our disagreements from time to time on the forums, but when all is said and done, we are still supporting the same TEAM. "The Men and Women of our armed forces". At Thudgate, the Navy and Army supporters are always welcomed. As are ANY of the opposing teams. We invite everyone, and we all have a great time. ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD, we are mortal enemies, but ON THE BATTLE FIELD, we are Brothers and Sisters. So if you truly can make it, you are most welcome to Thudgate. And I'd be proud to offer up some Jeremiah Weed and have a "Toast to the Host" with you.

My last thudgate I toasted with a glass of water. :biggrin: Great food though mike!

What's with that ESPN thing??? We couldn't get any scores here either, except big ten and SEC. GRRR. I already checked with the nice FIOS ppl and they assure me I'll be watching AFA crush Navy next Saturday. ;)

But hey, how 'bout 'dem Steelers!!!!!!!
