I did it today, but it definitely wasn't my best day.

I had:

66 foot BBALL
7 Pullups
9.7 Shuttle
115 Situps
46 Pushups
8.00 Mile(I normally get a 7 minute, but i felt very sick today and puked my guts out.

I think everything would carry, except the mile, but I know I can do better on some events especially the mile.

did you submit the results yet? - if you havent submitted - take the test again. my son took it 3 times due to problems with bb throw. didnt submit till he got results he liked.

If I remember correctly, you're only allowed to take the test once.

thats more then likely a pass. but if you want to take it again, go for it

From an admssions rep perspective, the numbers don't totally jive. If your score itself is in question, or if the test methods are in question, you may be asked to re-take it.

From a quick search on these forums, its seems that in a few cases admissions has notified someone if they want him or her to retake it.

like i said, i know i can definitely get a 7 minute mile if i retook it again. today was just one of those day where i had a bad run

i don't think my instructor submitted the scores yet, so i think i'll do it again thursday

Also aren't 95 sit-ups the maximum, so there is no point in passing that marker?
You will probably have more energy for your next two events anyway.

To summarize:
- don't submit scores unless they are at least average.
- if scores have been submitted, your Regional Commander can ask you to take it again. That decision is purely at his discretion.
- stop when you reach the max. You do not get brownie points for going over the max.

Indeed. Looking at the test, the numbers are peculiar. As an officer and admissions rep, my first thought is "This kid can do 120% on situps, but only about 60% of the max pushups less than 40% on pullups?" Generally young people, especially males, don't have such a disparity in core and upper body strength. I would expect those numbers for a female, but from a male it would make me question the testing methods.

I'd take again before submitting, if it hasn't gone in.

You are able to take your CFA as many times as you want and can continually update it all the way up to the deadline (which I believe is Nov1).

Personally, I'd recommend sending the scores in because you can always update them. When I was applying I was told "It's better that we at least have a CFA on record. Even if it isn't necessarily where we want it to be."

So at the very least, send in your scores and let them know that you intend to retake it. Then retake it, do better, and send in your new scores (just make sure it happens before the application deadline).

I was under the impression that CFA scores are a one-time submit deal? Where does it say we can submit our CFA scores in as many times as we want? I have never heard this.....

Alright guys, so I'm retaking the test either friday or monday.

The practice test a took about 2 weeks ago was

68 ft bball
9.8 shuttle
7 pullups
105 situps
56 push ups
and a 710 mile

I should be able to get at least around those numbers, i just had a bad day yesterday. I'll post my new scores up at the end of the week

95 sit-ups is the maximum; you get no incentive if you top that.
You will have extra time to rest and perform better on your mile or push-ups.

It's been awhile since my cadet took it, but that's what I thought I remembered too, Thunderbird12. He really stressed out about it.

When I was on an overnight a group of CC's and myself were told by the director of admissions that we could always send in better CFA scores if our first ones were not up to par.

If you fail the first time, and then take it a couple months later with a passing score, then you've shown improvement and dedication to making it to West Point. Why wouldn't they take the better scores?

I also had the same impression when I was applying, but it was cleared up when I asked.

A big part of it, I think, is being qualified in the other two areas (Medical and Academic). I haven't heard of anyone being denied an appointment when they had great academics and were medically qualified, but physically unqualified. Granted, I don't come across many people that didn't recieve an appointment. I guess the real question would be, does it ever say that you can only submit your CFA once?

I see you're also a candidate for USAFA.

Please understand that for USAFA (I will not speak for any other SA as I'm not their expert) you are allowed ONE and only ONE test.

The AFA can request that you take it again ONLY ONLY ONLY if THEY decide they want you to do so. You will not succeed by asking to do it again.

So as I tell EVERYONE: do NOT take the CFA until you KNOW how you'll do and are satisfied with the scores you KNOW you can achieve. :thumb:

Another aspect of this is that if asking USMA or USNA to forward CFA's taken at one of the summer seminar to not send to USAFA unless you are ready to lock in!

DS had CFA from NASS forwarded to both USMA & USAFA without realizing this. It's probably OK, but if he had wanted to improve & resubmit he cannot.

Worked out OK with USMA as he just improving a "not at risk" CFA, and ended up with an LOA in the early wave.
