I recieved a letter to day saying the board bas reviewd my application and I am scholastically qualified. What does this mean? What more do I nedd to do now?

Hit the iron, or run more. Get in shape, and more competitive CFA scores, and then get a nomination, and make sure your DoDMERB is qualified (with or without waiver if necessary)
Then to my understanding, you'll have a very good chance of an appointment.

Assuming you were assigned a candidate's number, it means that a file has been opened for you and you are cleared to become a player in the campaign for an appointment for the Naval Academy's Class of 2015. Congratulations, now the hard part begins. Complete the candidate's packet as quickly, completely, and accurately as possible, max your CFA, and earn a nomination. Seriously.

Best wishes to you and your peers.

A scholastic qualification is indication of a completed package which has gone before the board and 'passed'. At this stage of the cycle, a very positive indication. Probably indicative of a solid candidate.

It means the board has reviewed your entire package and found you qualified on everythng.

The other two inputs to become triple qualified and, hence, eligible for an appointment, is the CFA and DoDMERB.

However, if anything in your profile changes, let CGO know. It may affect your competitiveness.

Now for the part that is somewhat difficult to understand (maybe it is my explanation). While the pass/fail portion of the CFA is its own part of the triple qualification, how well one actually does is reflected in the scholastic qualification. Very very few records go before the board without the CFA being completed so odds are you have taken it and passed. And if you were deducted points on the scholastic qualification due to subpar performance, it was not enough to affect your qualification. Check with your BGO. His record will show if you passed the CFA or not. If you passed and think you can make dramatic improvements, ask the CGO to do it again. If not, just sit back, get your DoDMERB and nominations done (at least four), and wait.

Does everyone who ultimately gets an appointment get a "scholastically qualified" letter?

I didnt get a scholastically qualified, I just got a LOA..
I'm assuming that they're the same thing, with the exception that the LOA knows that I've passed DODMERB, and the CFA.
Either way, anyone who does get an appointment is "scholastically qualified," so just shoot for the appointment.

I received my appointment 2 weeks ago. And yet I received this scholastically qualified letter yesterday. Kinda odd.

 LOA and scholastically qualified are NOT the same thing, not at all. LOA is an early offer, providing you secure a nomination and any other requirements listed on your LOA, which could include DoDMERB, CFA in addition to nomination.

More applicants will become scholastically qualified and triple Q'd and receive a nomination than will be appointed.

Happykat: applicants may or may not get a scholasticallly qualified letter. It's the military. Semper gumby!
