What is the tattoo policy at West Point/in the Army?
If you have one when entering does it disqualify you from and job/position?
Can you get one once you are at West Point?

-I am looking to go to West Point and have already received my LOA (class of 2015) and want to get a tattoo for my birthday (February). What are the disadvantages of getting one before I go?

Thanks!

Take it from an old man with a bit of ink...you have the rest of your life to get tattoos. There are better ways to celebrate.

As Scout said I'd probably just wait until after West Point for tattoos. If I'm permitted to, I'll probably get tattoos after I graduate.

I see a lot of people with tattoos walking around, some of them clearly visible and I've always wondered about that

The stipulations on visibility are defined with the Class A uniform (or equivalent) as the basis. Visibility during PT uniform wear of during other utility/combat/Class B uniform wear is not considered in the regulation.

That being said, getting a tattoo later after waiting a bit is a lot easier than having a regretted one removed.
