My S's rotc page is now saying "You have an application awaiting selection decision" what does this mean?

Navy ROTC. It now says "You have an application awaiting selection decision." It used to say it was being sent to the selection board.

It actually "says" more than that. If you click on the following link this is an issue that has only recently appeared and was mentioned in post #3 of the link:
http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=15005

Do not know what this means, but the status page after signing into the online application has changed. Instead of saying that the application is at the NETC, it says:

- You have an application awaiting selection decision.
- You cannot apply for the current application year until a selection decision has been made.
- You can check the status of your application at https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/status_scholarship.aspx

The problem is, the link to Check Status of Current NROTC Application https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/status_scholarship.aspx only shows 2009 and 2010 scholarship status, but no option to check on 2011 application status.

As we have no applications into any other service academy or AROTC or AFROTC, we don't have a DODMERB page on which to check status.

Last Sunday when others were seeing the message "You have an application awaiting selection decision. You cannot apply for the current application year until a selection decision has been made", my DD was not seeing this message and was still able to look at her application. She is now seeing the same message quoted above and is no longer able to view her application. I find it curious that this change did not happen for everyone at the same time.

Is this a good sign that it went before the board and an offer is on it's way?

My thought would be that if every applicant who logs on is getting the same message, then it's probably a system problem. However, if there are applicants logging on who are able to see the "old" screen, then we either have an isolated system problem or maybe...

After looking back at previous posts, I now see that last week those who were seeing the 2009/2010 screen were eventually able to see the normal screen when using a different link, so my statement was incorrect that DD was able to see her ap when others couldn't. In any case, I just talked to someone at the helpdesk. After walking me through the steps and having the same results, he said that they thought they had corrected the problem over the weekend, but evidently not. He said that they will look into the problem again.

Obviously not. How much of a surprise was it to the "help desk"?

I saw that some of the NROTC acceptances went out today. I remember for our DS a few yrs back, that it always appeared when the site went down or changed, lists were about to come out...looks like it is still that way...just my opinion, not a fact.

Pima: As far as I can tell only one person has recieved a NROTC scholarship and he found out first on DoDMERB and then 12 days later by snail mail. The NROTC site hasn't shown any change other than not working since Friday. If (and I realize you said it was just a guess) they are actually updating the NROTC site with scholarship information then that is evidently news to the "help desk" personnel who thought they "corrected" the problem over the weekend.

that was my thought as well... that the NROTC scholarship awards from the Sept. 27-30 NETC committee meeting are bing mailed out now.

If they are being mailed out how come the web site is down?
If the site is being updated why wouldn't the help desk know about it or think that they corrected the problem over the weekend?
Why did sbbond93's DoDMERB status change but no one else's if he also met the same board?

As sbbond93 mentioned in a different thread (I think), he got the snail mail letter 12 days after his DoDMERB status changed.

Also, we know that a board met in late September- this, presumably, is the board that sbbond93 got in on. Also, I've read from several different people on this forum that a second board met the week of Oct. 4th.

If all this information is correct, and the timeline remains fairly constant, those who were selected during the second board should expect to see their DoDMERB statuses updated this week.

Follow my logic?

Just to help along for those still waiting...My son received his NROTC 4 year scholarship today in the mail (postmarked Oct. 15). I true blessing...we are greatful! Good luck to all!

I do follow your logic.
I must have missed the posts about two NROTC boards meeting aprox. 12 days apart. If that was indeed the case then part of your logic makes sense. However I do not remember the NROTC board or DoDMERB board going down 12 days ago.

TexasHopeful: Congrats to you and your son! It is great to finally hear about some people receiving NROTC scholarships. :thumb:

Ag, all I can recall from 3 yrs ago for the AFROTC aspect was that the message board would go down and then a few days later pop back up.

Now, that being said I do recall that the site would say it would be down for maintenance on X day. It was after that people started putting 2 and 2 together, because it would go down a few days after the board. I remember his actual site did not show awarded until after the snail mail. For some because of where they live it actually was simultaneous, they would get the snail mail and change on the same day.

The one thing I wonder is if there is also a longer lag time for NROTC since they have to not only award the scholarship, but combine it with the schools, make it more difficult in getting the snail mail out and changing the DodMerb page.

For all anyone knows they could send out by Type of scholarship or they could send out by schools or by SS number. There are a lot of variables in the equation that are unknown.
