I must say the seeing it on the DODMERB sight is a bit like finding our the sex of your baby before they are born. Still exciting but I will admit that back in the day when DODMERB was not totally online - only the medical questionnaire, it made it much more suspenseful and exciting all the same. We actually had to wait for the DODMERB letter to come stating qualified or as in my sons case unqualified, waiverable. A week later and the LOA letter arrived and the waiver - which was never really a waiver they changed the eyesight standards that month. A week later and the Nomination and the phone call from both our Senator and Congressman. A life with the internet - we want it all now!

I am so excited for you. All of those emotions that we went through waiting to find out are rushing back. Savor the moments and best of luck with the rest of the process!
 
I checked this afternoon, and I had the sub agency NALOA. I was in the school library so I couldn't voice my full excitement at the time. Now for the nomination. I have an interview with senator Warner of Virginia this weekend. I live in the 5th district of Virginia for anyone else that is as crazy over this stuff as I am.

Sorry to add on to this thread, but this seems like the most relevant place to post this question.

I have an interview with one of senators this weekend. Should I inform him of the LOA? It seems like they would ask if I had one in the interview, but I've read that all MOC are different and unpredictable. Another point is that I might not actually have the LOA in hand by Saturday. Judging from other posters it should be here in time, but I want to be prepared in the case that it's not. I doubt he would take a print out of the screen shot of sub agency: NALOA.

The advice that was given to my Plebe was: No. Do not tell the staffers who will be interviewing you that you have a LOA.

I say this for two reasons: 1 - they probably already know and 2 - you do not want to sound arrogant. Just answer their questions as best you can. If they start to explain how difficult it is to secure an appointment even with a nomination - then you might say something to the effect of: "Yes it is a great honor to earn an appointment and given that the NA has said that I have met all of their requirement by awarding me with a LOA, then with the Senator's nomination I would gain that great honor."
 
Sub Agency Question

Hey Lee2015,

Congratulations to your daughter! Quick question concerning your daughter's NALOA on her DoDMERB page. I am a USNA candidate myself and there is no "Sub Agency" heading on my DoDMERB page. As of right now, it looks like this:

Agency: US Naval Academy
Current Medical Status: Qualified (12-OCT-10)

My question to you is did the Sub Agency header appear when the NALOA notification came up? Thus far I have received a letter stating that I am Scholastically Qualified and Medically Qualified. Thanks for your help.
 
BAldridge, when my son received his LOA's, copies were sent to his MOCs by the Academies. The Academies want to make sure that the MOCs know who they want. They were aware and should be aware of yours by the time they make their decisions.
 
Be careful what you post about seeing your status change on the Dodmerb page. Last year after so many had posted about it, they stopped letting you see the page if an appointment or loa was being offered. Luckily it was after I had seen my son's status change to appointment offered. I actually printed out the page that morning, since he was at school. By the afternoon they had locked up that section of the dodmerb page so you could not access it. Its still a GREAT feeling to know that the appointment or loa is on its way!!!:shake:
 
Also, for those reading this thread who haven't seen the NALOA status, remember that most appointees never receive an LOA. It is some comfort to those who get that early notification, but it isn't the only way to an appointment.
 
Amen Momofthemagik. My son didn't get an appointment until February. This is an easy time of year to get discouraged when you see many posting that they have LOA.....again...don't give up the ship! :biggrin:

Yes!, it takes few days to receive the LOA letter from the time the Sub Angency with NALOA display on DODMERB.
