Yes, everyone. It is required as part of the admissions process.

Each candidate must be:

Scholastically Qualified
SAT or ACT test scores
High School Transcript(s)
Math Instructor Evaluation
English Instructor Evaluation
Coach/PE Instructor Evaluation

Physically Qualified
Physical Fitness Evaluation (PFE)

Medically Qualified
DODMERB Medical Examination​

Only then can a full appointment be offered.

I guess that I should have asked...Is it a good sign that you get orders for a DODMERB physical? Meaning...Does it sound like they liked all the other information submitted and want to know more? Or, does everyone, even those that may not be as qualified get the DODMERB physical?
 
The actual answer to 1EagleDad's question is:

Everyone that USCGA Admissions feels meets the initial criteria to be a valid applicant is then downloaded to DoDMERB for the medical piece of their application. Admissions is the office that pulls that trigger.

If your initial application reveals that an applicant has no chance of receiveing an offer of appointment (e.g. SAT scores, GPA, other issues, does not make an applicant competitive for an offer of appointment), those applicants are NOT forwarded for the DoDMERB process. :thumb:

It is simply a normal part of the process, for everyone. Every candidate must take a physical exam, every candidate must pass (or be granted a waiver) to be offered an appointment.

Getting a card from Concorde that instructs you to schedule your DODMERB physical examination means nothing, other than your application is progressing through the system.

Thank you all for your answers. I guess we are just excitied about the opportunity and looking for glimmers of hope. We'll just have to sit tight and be patient.
