for some reason i can get 70 wide arm pushups whereas i normally only get 50-55 with my hands exactly shoulder-width apart.

and what's a good warm-up for the CFA? Taking it tomorrow

I will let someone more experience comment on pushups.
Before you take your test make sure you throw the basketball a couple of times.
My first trial was 42' because it slipped my hand as I didn't adequately warm up.

Opinions vary. Back in the day, DPE used to recommend doing 5-10 pushups and 5-10 situps during the rest period prior to each respective APFT event. I wouldn't do more than 1-2 pullups prior to that event. Just do a few reps of each event, when possible, and stretch otherwise.

I don't think doing reps on push-ups or pull-ups as a warm up will help me. personally, doing pull-ups even the day before a pft will bring my max reps down by at least two. I was just looking for a warm-up to get my muscles primed for the exercises and to get my heart-rate up

back to the main question, can I do wide-arm push ups. I looked at the CFA guidelines and it just said "outside of the shoulders"

I (and lots of other people) did wide-arm pushups during the SLS CFA, so I think it's ok.

That is because you use different muscles depending on the width. Yes, they are okay.
