When the B-splitters return to KP this week where do they go since their previous dorm room will be occupied by someone else. I noticed that the King's Pointer will also be departing so can't bunk there. Any suggestions that we can pass along to our son?

I cannot say that this is the norm but my DS has had a new room and roommate(s) at least twice a year - this certainly was the case after returning from sea year splits - new room and new mates.

So, when he returned to KP how did he find out where his new room was? It is my understanding that they stay with the same company. Did he check w/the company CO?

DS was asking me the same questions today (like I would know ). Any info would be greatly appreciated from previous B spliters &/or parents.

Our B-Splitter and sea partner returned to KP two weeks ago. They stayed in the bunkroom in Patten while getting some extra sea days on the Kings Pointer. They were told that they won't have rooms in the dorms until the B-Splitter designated return date of 31 October 2010.

Talked to DS this morning. He is leaving Africa soon. I also asked the same questions and he felt that he would be bunking at Patton until he is able to get a room. He said he would have access to yummy Delano but as for a room assignment, that would have to wait for room at the inn. Hope he is settled before the start of the new trimester.

Good question.

When I came back from sea I always just showed up and found the best empty room in my building (Palmer Hall). I always tried to show up a day early so I could get one on the water side, take my time settling in and scrounge for extra furniture. I had seven different rooms and six different roommates during my tenure at KP. I probably moved more than most, but having multiple different rooms and multiple different roommates is not at all abnormal.
