Do cadets do anything for halloween? AF, Beat Navy do you guys see anybody in goofy costumes and stuff? Does the corps even 'celebrate' halloween? Just thought it would be interesting to hear somebody's take.

Pictures are more than welcome:thumb:

I'm not a cadet, but I got back today from my overnight visit and got to see a lot of fun things over the weekend.

Cadets went trick-or-treating Thursday night. They also held a "haunted trunk room" contest where the different companies decorated their trunk rooms and were judged to see whose was the best. The plebes who were escorting me were actually in the winning company, and since they won their SAMI was cancelled  Saturday night there was a Halloween dance.

Thursday nights are spirit nights, so that's when we celebrate all our holidays, such as Halloween. We had Halloween spirit dinner Thursday, a Halloween spirit riot Thursday evening (not sanctioned and earned 2nd reg extended AMI while the rest of the coprs enjoyed PMI in prep for the VMI game ), and there was plebe Halloween dance last night (didn't go, but my roommates did and had some fun).

In my day, the plebes and the upperclassmen squared off in candy fights. That may have been deemed unprofessional by now. More than a few injuries.

Those pics from the Comm's house are too funny.
Some very creative cadets they have there at West Point.
The things they do for a piece of candy. :shake:

Is this just a USMA cadet deal? Can a cadet invite a date? I have a friend here who said 'whenever you have a dance at WP I want to come!! I want to meet your friends!!' Does this type of thing ever happen?

Huge understatement!! Hysterical pictures!!:yllol:

If you get appointed, I'll have to explain the intricacies of cadet dating and the "h word" to you...

I've read The Long Gray Line (Great book) about the c/o 1966. It sounded like having a girl over for an evening was similar to coordinating special operations in N. Korea. Has that changed? Is it different for a legit event, such as a dance?

You could explain now if you wanted couldn't you?

mtnman17, this is great. This is the type of quote that gets people sig lines

I'm reading Absolutely American right now. I'm discouraged from getting a girlfriend now. :yllol:

Yeah well at least girls will find the fact that you're in the Army attractive. Boys don't tend to feel that way about girls in the Army

on other forums, if members say something especially memorable then they would earn a signature line. Sig lines at SAF aren't used like that-- they're the thing below one's user name that says "candidate" "parent","cadet", etc.

Oh! I thought you meant sig lines such as signature lines (autograph signing lines:rolleyes:)! How do you set the sig line to say something anyhow?

As a plebe my son participated in this. I have pictures of the aftermath. It was no longer allowed after that year.
