I'm not sure if anyone from admissions still participates in the forums, but can anyone tell us how many applications were received for Early Action One, and any estimate on how many are expected to be selected from that group? My son's Admissions Officer did tell us previously that they are only expecting to take 260 kids for the Class of 2015, considerably less than the 290 enrolled last year...I would think that this would translate to fewer early action offers as well. Thanks

Hi, we are on a visit to CGA right now. During today's parents session, we were told approximately 450 applications were received under Early Action I. They expect similar number for Early Action II. A tentative class size of 290 was also announced to us today...so there you have it. I hope this helps. Good Luck to all early action candidates at this time!!:thumb:

Increasing the expected class size back to 290 is great news! Thanks for the update!

Of course, that number includes the 64 CGA Scholars (who began the program) who are virtually guaranteed an appointment upon completion of the prep program.

I see your point, but I guess that would be true every year, wouldn't it? Either way, a class size of 290 still sounds better to me than one of 260, even if the net is reduced by the addition of the scholars claiming their well-earned spots.

Only 400 during Early Action I? Jeese, wish I was applying from high school this year.

Notification question

Hello, my son applied to USCGA early action, and I was wondering when applicants are notified: LOA, wait list, or denied? Are they notified after the application is reviewed or in late December?

Thanks everyone for posting questions! It really helps!

  • EA #1 Deadline = 15 October. Decisions no later than 24 December.

  • EA #2 Deadline = 1 November. Decisions no later than 15 January.

  • Regular Admissions Deadline = 1 February. Decisions no later than 15 April.

  • All appointment offers must be accepted or declined by 1 May.

Thank you

Last year's EA notification date was also 24 Dec but Big Fat Envelopes started showing up around 5 Dec or so.

Of course last year there was only 1 Early Action group, not sure how the new changes will affect the decision time line.

I wouldn't start stalking the mailman until around 6 December, which is only 33 days away!

so pretty much, if we do not receive a big, huge, fat letter...we know the unfortunate answer then...

According to my source, the big fat envelopes for EA1 will show up anytime after Nov 1 (EA2 deadline).

You can start stalking the mailman as early as next week.:thumb:

Oh no, don't do this to me...I ALMOST had myself in my serene place, ready to wait for six weeks! Now its back to acid reflux and coffee tremors...

It's possible, but highly improbable, that notifications would begin to be mailed in October; however, if you're in EA Group One, you really don't need to start checking your mailbox until mid-December.
