Just wondering...

Can cadets be excused out of classes one day early if they have a conflict the day before Thanksgiving? or any other break?

Thanks:smile:

He wants to miss classes to see someone in the hospital because he has a vacation planned during the time he is officially off? Did I read that correctly? So, class should be cut so vacation isn't interrupted? :yllol::shake::yllol::shake::yllol::shake:
You're kidding, right?

No, unfortunately it is not. He cannot get in contact with anyone at this moment so he called me to ask on this site. I have no idea what is going on.

I think that goes for all of us on this one.

Just so we have this straight...your brother, the cadet, wants to miss classes so he can visit relatives who are in the hospital before he goes on vacation?

No, he is not my brother, he's a friend of mine.
And that is what I heard on the phone.

Essentially, the answer would be no. But, that is ultimately for his chain of command to decide.

Let me give my 2 cents worth of insight into what the answer might be. My son, who is currently a plebe, lost his grandmother this summer while he was in his third week of Beast. We knew this was a likely scenario before he left, and after some discussion and research, found out that, if it occurred, he would not be able to leave for the funeral. Policy is that it would have to be an immediate family member.

We understood the policy, and communicated the passing of his grandmother to him over the phone. In advance of the phone call we spoke to his TAC, and he made arrangements for the Chaplain to be there for my son. The people at USMA were tremendously supportive of my son during that time. We received two phone calls from his TAC after our conversation, letting us know how he was handling it, which we appreciated very much.

I realize this is now off track, but wanted to finish the thought.
