Son got a big, fat envelope from USCGA admissions today. Thinking that summer1942 might have been on to something when he/she posted that the Early Action One letters were coming out sooner than expected, we ripped into it to find...a beautiful, glossy brochure inviting son to consider applying to the USCGA! I need a drink! (it really is a nice brochure, though...)

Keep the eye on the mail box. that is what I am doing now.

I received that exact same BFE today too ! My heart started racing, only to find the brochure. Hopefully another one will be coming soon for both of us ! :thumb:

we did too

BFE arrived here too. It looked "non personalized" and i am thinking that it is not The Envelope. wonder why it was sent to those who applied already..?

In the past, appointment packages (the "BFE") have arrived in a heavyweight USPS Priority Mail envelope that looks like this:

Same here!!!! 2nd one applying does not make it any easier...oh that familiar feeling of anticipation everytime we go to the mailbox! DODMERB website? Are they actually updating that early again this time? shhhhh, don't tell anybody or they will stop....

^^^
Don't think DoDMERB will let that one slide through once again this year. Ruined all the fun of tracking out to the mailbox looking for "the" BFE
Last year's began showing up on the Saturday of Army/Navy; that was a great day of celebration! :thumb:

EA Deferrals and conditional appointments will come in a normal thin #10 envelope.

The large cardboard Priority Mail envelope is used when full appointments are sent, as there are many documents and other items enclosed that must be signed and returned.

The "bound" white formal presentation appointment folder comes in April, long after the appointment is actually awarded.

BFE

Reminds me of when I was waiting for my CPA results and stalking the mailman...except the BFE was not a good sign....an application for the next test!!! lol

Holy Moly!!

Boy.....does this bring back memories of only a FEW months ago!! Remember when we checked the forum 15-20 times a day? Will keep fingers crossed for those in waiting...Come On BFE!!

Hey anyone rember this post?

:bang: Me waiting for something....anything!!

:screwy: My husband's thoughts of me during this process

:bounce: Our son's disposition during the wait...

Keep faith, remember to laugh once in awhile and know that if it's meant to be...it REALLY will BE!!

Thoughtbthis also applied.

The AMA might want to take note of 2 new afflictions spreading across the country:
Service Academy/ROTC Admissions Statusosis (SARAS) and Current Medical Status Syndrome (CMSS).
These affect a very specialized segment of the population- candidates and parents of candidates of our nation’s Service Academies and ROTC programs. The first sign is when logging on daily to DoDMERB turns into logging on constantly throughout the day and night. The symptoms usually emerge around Christmas and reach a roaring obsession by March and April.

Symptoms include:
- Worn off numbers and letters on keyboard that correlate to the username and password
- Being late to work or school b/c you are checking DoDMERB ‘just one more time’
- When the 10 minutes between updates seems like an eternity
- Calluses form on fingertips
- “What does this mean?!!!!” e-mail sent to Larry Mullen or posted on SAF when a date changes on status
- Family members brush up on CPR in case you have ‘the big one’ when offered/withdrawn or waiver granted/denied finally appears
- Having heart palpitations while waiting for the page to load
- The mailman feels rejected
- Friends, co-workers and extended family know what DoDMERB is
- There is a designated bottle of wine/sparkling grape juice in your cabinet just in case there is cause for celebration
- Finding comfort with people you’ve never met before on SAF because no one else really knows what you are going through
- The terms ‘ remedial’, ‘Concorde’, ‘waiver’, ‘in process’, and ‘DQ’ become part of your normal vocabulary
- Parents have rehearsed what they will say to DS or DD when the news comes- good or bad
- Experiencing withdrawals now that DoDMERB does not include admissions status

Treatment: None available. These symptoms occur over such a short period of time that implementing a 12-step program is not feasible. However, symptoms quickly dissipate once BFE or TWE arrives in the mail.

WARNING: Symptoms MAY reappear when another sibling/child opens a file.

Signed: a parent fully recovered from CMSS.

I thought this again applied here as well. We have received our word, via application staus page, from usmma and are thrilled and can exhale,,,,,for now

I hope this copy/ paste works, here goes nothin'.

OK, anxious parents/applicants, don't get excited if you get another large envelope from admissions. Son got another one today, same envelope as the last ones (not the postal service priority mail envelope previously described.) New one contained another nice color brochure describing in detail the available majors at the academy. The wait for the "other" BFE continues...
