My daughter has completed her packet. Her BGO interview was yesterday, and she said it went well. And her nomination is in.

I take it we are just in a waiting game now?

You got it!
Time to get to know you mail person
Would also suggest that quarter grades and other notable changes be forwarded to USNA Admissions.

Provide a stamped, addressed envelope to your Guidance counselor. Request that they send an OFFICIAL (embossed) copy of your grades to USNA, ATTN: Admissions.
Address is on your profile on the USNA web site.
Type/write in the lower left corner of the envelope your candidate number.

Thanks USNA1982BGO. I will tell her to get her grades sent at the end of the semester (her school operates on semesters rather than quarters).

From now until April 15 we will cringe when we see the mailman, wondering if it's good news or bad news.

It it's good news you MAY hear from your MOC first via a phone call. That said, not all MOCs do this (mine didn't), and it's much less likely to occur if the MOC who is in office come late January isn't the one who gave you the nom. Regardless, USNA will forward appointment certificates in the mail.

Its also time to do everything to secure "Plan B." I really can't stress that enough. My son had two nominations to USNA, GPA over 4.0, 5 AP classes, star athlete, tons of leadership, 30 ACT composite (32 in Math) great interviews, an uncle who was a USNA grad, he maxed almost every category of his CFA and not a single diciplinary or legal matter in sight. He was put on the waiting list, and never did receive an appointment to USNA (No prep or foundation offer either). I'm not sharing this to make anyone panic, I'm just hoping my words will make others take the effort to make sure they are covered no matter what the outcome.
With the economy being what it is, with diversity effects, with politics...you really cannot count on a thing until that darling mailman hands you that BFE.
Even though we were just sure he would get in to USNA, we still completed his application to USAFA, NROTC, and some other schools...and it was really tempting not to! Just writing this is making all those feelings of stress and exhaustion come rushing back! I can't tell you how close my son came to not even completing the USAFA app.
Time is a funny thing. Thank goodness he also had two nominations to USAFA. Here we are a year later, and he is prosperous cadet at USAFA; great grades, IC athlete. Things really do happen for a reason, and now I believe he is where he belongs...but if you had told me that last spring when we were waiting for that USNA BFE...I would have ripped your head off!
Take care of Plan B!

I know you weren't doing this to make me scared...but I really am now. Your son's application sounds a lot like mine. I have a plan B, but it's at a civilian college, and I really don't want to go to it. Waiting is probably the worst thing in the world! I wish we could just find out the outcome of this year, it would make things so much easier.

Like I said, my intention was not to scare, but to advise. Don't stop, take the time to complete the essays for the other schools, make sure ALL your applications are complete.
You sound like you are well qualified, and I will keep you in my prayers that a BFE is on its way. Remeber, with all your qualifications, you have a very bright future ahead of you! But know there are factors that are beyond your control. Don't let the stress get to you. Take care of ALL the things in your control, then focus on having good clean fun for the rest of your senior year.
Best of luck to you!

Yes, secure plan B and plan C. Not only will life surprise you, but you may surprise yourself!

Plan B - ROTC
Plan C-civilian college with scholarships
Plan D?-civilian college that you can afford

Son applied to USAFA, and long story short, a broken collar bone and an appointment to USNA, he's now a midshipman in Annapolis. He can't even imagine himself at USAFA, now. Life sometimes throws a few curves.
