What time will cadets have to report on R-day 2011?

Thanks!

Your report time is determined by the last digit in your social security number. Prior service and prep report at a different time.

mom3boys, thanks. Generally, can you give me a time. Are we looking at 5:00am? Or will report times start later, say 7:00am? Thanks.

My report time window was 0800-0930. There were 3 different windows if I remember correctly (I think one was before mine and one after).

Here is a link to a .pdf file West Point provided for R-day last summer. My son's report time was 6:30 AM, and when we got there at 6:30, there were a lot of people already in line. It did not really matter where you were in line. You all end up at the same place. I would not worry to much about being there earlier than your stated time.

Thank you all very much. We will stay in Dingmans Ferry, PA (right outside of Milford, PA) for the week prior to R-day, so I wanted to get some idea of what time we would have to set out--can't turn down a free place to stay! We did book a room in Fishkill for A-day since our daughter won't be allowed to stay with us.

Good Lord, what did candidates and parents do before this forum!!

My SSN ends with a 1. Im not sure, but I saw once that my number reports at 0630

Theoretically, at least, WP reimburses your cadet for travel expenses and a hotel room the night before R-Day at whatever the government rate is. I say "theoretically" because (1) reimbursement was not clearcut for us -- son was reimbursed less than $100 for hotel and airfare, while another cadet we know received over $1000 in mileage for driving a couple of prepsters. [Son can probably go talk to treasurer and hasn't done it yet] and (2) the money goes into your cadet's checking account, not back to you.

Prepsters were there very early; last digit of social security 0-3 was 6:30-8; 4-7 was 8-9:30; 8 and9 were 9:30-11. We joined the line at 7:15 for a 6:30 report time, got to the gym about an hour later, and were fine. They did check as we entered the gym (well into the line), and were turning away a few who were there early.

Particularly if you're in the early group, think about getting a hotel room close in for that last night. Last thing your cadet needs is to worry about is traffic.
