Benefits Based on Service

I'm pretty well versed in the pay and benefits for Air Force officers, but I'm curious how it differs across the different services.

From what I can tell by looking around, basic pay seems to be the same for each branch. As I start digging down into things like hazardous duty pay, leave time, medical and legal services, allowances, etc, I start to notice a few differences.

Does anyone out there know a good site that has a side by side comparison of all of that, or can anyone post that information here?

I don't know of a website with the information you're looking for; but the benefits (Actually, "Pay Allowances"), isn't really related to the branch of service. It's based on the type of job you have. All branches of the military have certain "Pay Allowances" for certain jobs. E.g. Flight pay, hazardous duty pay, etc... Each branch of the military have these. And they aren't reserved strictly for officers. So, I don't really know how to answer your question. Because this is an academy site, basically you attend the academy. You then put in for the AFSC (Career) that you're interested in. You are then selected in the spring of your Junior Year (C2C for air force academy) of what your career will be. After graduation from the academy, you go to that job and any additional training that may be required. If you are entitled to additional "PRO-PAY" for a specific job, or other "Pay Allowances" related to your duties, location, etc... you will be given those. You'll find out when it applies. Fortunately, most people don't apply for a certain career field based on the additional pay and allowances they may receive based on that job. So this question is difficult to be answered directly. Some of these additional pay and allowances are temporary. I.e. only given when in a war zone or while performing specific duties in specific locations. Some are more of a permanent allowance, depending on your career field.

Sorry that I couldn't be specific, but your question is very open ended. My job in the military didn't receive additional pay or allowances normally based on the job; however; I received quite a few additional pay and allowances while in Central America, South America, Middle East, Africa, and while temporarily on board the Navy Carrier U.S.S Forrestal. (I was air force). So, it just depends on your job and where/when you are performing that job. Obviously, there are certain given Pay and Allowances like Flight pay and pro pay for careers like pilots and doctors; but there are so many others, that it's hard to narrow it down. Especially when you started adding hazardous duty into the equation. Maybe someone else can narrow down your question a little better than I can. Mike....
